It had 4 seasons?
Yeah, 2 more than it should have if I'm honest. The third was a stretch but the fourth was just why?

For the fans of Letterkenny on here, which I know a good few of us are, there is a spin-off series Shoresy which I am sure will be very funny. It does mean hoisting the Jolly Roger though I think. Will report back after watching.

Shoresy is excellent, they've said on Twitter they're getting a second season which is great news.

Very much not what I expected given the character in the main show, but a real nice surprise.

And that's the story of why I'm not allowed near pregnant women for the next few weeks.

I wish there were a way I could pay for that show, there's no legal route I know of in the UK.

One of the funniest shows I have ever watched I think. Tried the Shoresy spin-off and didn't take to it all that much, guess not knowing much about ice hockey might have been a hindrance.

If you get on Plex and find a free server some have got all 11 seasons and the specials.

A hunt online seems to think a Hulu sub and a VPN are needed, which all feels like a lot of work.

With the amount of utter shite that many of the subscription services run, you would think that one of them would bite the producers arms off to snap up a show like Letterkenny.

Alice in Borderland season 2 is out next week, completely forgot about this. Enjoyed the first season but truth be told I remember very little about it.

Following the news that Westworld has been cancelled, it turns out it's also being removed from the streaming service of the company that financed it.

https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/westwo ... 235458657/
The removal of shows from HBO Max means WB Discovery is able to save money in residuals paid to cast and crews of productions, on top of the money saved by not continuing with the shows at all.
So subscribing to the streaming service that a show was produced for isn't even a guarantee of being able to watch that show. I know piracy doesn't need to be made more attractive, but well, here we are.

This is one of several reasons why I generally favour physical media these days.

I wanted to re-watch Parks and Rec recently and discovered that it's no longer 'properly' on Prime, which is to say you can stream it via Prime but it's part of Freevee, which means each 20 minute episode has 3 sets of adverts. Balls to that. I immediately went and bought the complete blu ray boxset (which happened to be on discount) and am enjoying the extended episodes and deleted scenes that it includes.

Streaming is good for some things, but when services are having some of their flagship shows pulled entirely or filled with adverts, the cost/benefit is poor.

That Freevee "service" is awful. I tried watching the first episode of Babylon 5 through it earlier in the year and there was an ad break literally every five or six minutes. It padded the runtime of the episode by 30-40%. I wouldn't be averse to a free streaming service with ads, perhaps for shows with limited commercial appeal, but for goodness sake it needs to have a reasonable content to advert ratio.

For me the limited windows in which a show are available aren't all that problematic because I tend to binge-watch entire seasons or series one day after another. I'd rather have a limited viewing period than have to a) spend money on physical media I'm only going to use a handful of times, and b) have to find the space to store it all. There really aren't many shows that I'd consider rewatching frequently enough to warrant ownership (the 80s-2000s Star Treks are the only ones that leap to mind). Even when it came to watching a show I genuinely own a copy of, Frasier (I have the first 7 seasons on DVD), I downloaded a copy because I can't even use them in my office where I wanted to watch them (my PC doesn't have a disc drive).
