I agree. If you have a Blu Ray title and cannot afford to rebuy on 4K, than you are really not missing out.

so that HMV 2 for £30 only applies to buying from the brick'n'mortar store, which is a disappointment. When I factor in time, parking and petrol it comes to the same (higher) price if I buy it online.

It only really comes handy if and when I am in town and there is an HMV en route.

HMV really missed an opportunity to take some market share from Amazon but you know that requires thinking ](*,)

Update

HMV got back to me to state the promo is also online as well but what the failed to pick up on (which I replied to point out) is that I ordered Blade Runner Final Cut which is on the 3 for £30 promo but is advertised, wrongly, in the 2 for £30 URL:

I asked for a compromise for a fiver back, because I am nice guy!

nice answer from HMV

Dear Sam,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Please be advised that we have now removed this title from the incorrect product page to avoid any further confusion.

Thank you for giving us the chance to rectify this mistake. Please note that we do not feel that compensation would be appropriate in this circumstance.

However, should you wish to return the titles free of charge, we will be happy to send you the details regarding this via return email.

I do hope this helps but should you require any further assistance please let us know.

when they arrive (still waiting....) I have decided I will return them and re-order. Its not so much a case of fuck them, but I am not giving them more of my money with that attitude. I did them a favour. I am not really surprised to be honest. I did an audit of HMV finances sometime ago and found their operating costs ran at 97%. The same model I presume which bankrupted Woolworths. Today they are probably healthier as they have got rid of many of their stores and have increased their online presence.

I used to like popping in HMV 15+ years ago when they were relevant, but they've gone from obsolete to plain hapless. The last time I was in one of their shops (about 4 years ago) was in the Christmas rush and my dad had found a boxset he wanted. There was a big queue with two or three staff lounging around doing nothing while nobody was being served. After a few minutes of no movement I got on my phone, ordered the boxset from Amazon at a lower price and we left.

wow

We have one in Reading. It is actually not a bad shopping experience but Amazon has made me very lazy. What with the hassle of driving to the car park, paying £6 the second you pass the 2 hour mark, getting to HMV, praying they actually have the product you need (unless you phone ahead and order it, which is even more of a hassle than buying from Amazon) and than fighting traffic to get home.

Amazon quite rightly deserves a bucket load of criticism on their tax avoidance which really pisses me off but as a model of service, sorry to say, they are next to faultless. In most (not all) cases cheaper, fast delivery and excellent returns policy.

I bought my 2 dics online from HMV last Friday. Its now Wednesday and I still do not have them. I chose slow mail (up to 5 working days) because its free, so I am aware of a wait, but given I am Prime subscriber I would have had them from Amazon the next day. I bought them from HMV to save money, only ending up paying slightly more (because of their mistake and my confusion) if I had bought them from Amazon.

The fact they acknowledged they made a mistake on their website and not offer me the rebate I was entitled to get goes to show you why Amazon is where it is.

Indiana Jones collection
Interstellar
The Matrix trilogy
Passengers
Predator
Saving Private Ryan

All the Star Wars films (except Solo)

very good

I splashed out on the LOTR Extended edition and I am trying to regulate myself to £50 a month but its hard!

That HP collection is a must have but Ill wait for Black Friday. I rented HP & The Chamber of Secrets on 4K and the picture quality blew me away

The first two HP films really benefit as they're native 4k, whereas the other ones are upscaled 2k. They still look great (it especially helps in the many scenes with low lighting) but it's less pronounced.

Is there much of a discernible difference between a UHD stream and the blu ray in terms of picture and audio quality?
