Ready Player One

Hmmm, that was ok I guess. It didn't take any risks and was ridiculously predicable. That said it had some good bits and trying to spot all the various gaming and film characters was cool.

6/10

The Meg
It’s rubbbish but it knows it’s rubbish. That doesn’t make it good just less bad. It’s maybe a touch more enjoyable than Deep Blue Sea. The wee Asian kid steals the show by being the only character with a personality.

Extinction
A perfectly serviceable feature length episode of the twilight zone. Real bad CG though, like C&C Red Alert levels at the end.

Man, Deep Blue Sea... That movie was completely gone from my memory until now.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe

Great film, but I'll watch anything with Brian Cox in it*. Grizzled mortician and his apprentice son perform an autopsy on a woman the local police bring to them under strange circumstances. Things get stranger from there. Worth a watch!

*which is a lot. His filmography is a separate article from his Wikipedia page!

Posted on old PW (boohoo - she was such a beautiful ship)

Mamma Mia Here We Go Again

I have to give credit to the editor, he made something out of nothing look interesting. After a pretty dire first 20 minutes, once your brain has been numbed by the sheer banality of this universe, the remainder of the film was directed and more importantly edited with a degree of skill. Don't get me wrong the film is shit but it is better than the first film. I kind of enjoyed it towards the end because it was less sugary sweetness sycophantic than the first movie. Cher is the best singer but that should be expected when her closest competition is an actress who once starred in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Cher still looks fucking weird though.

The film had a couple of side story lines that went nowhere and the whole concept is pretty fucked up - like why would 3 guys who fucked the same girl in a space of a month be best mates ?.

Anyway......6/10. Great editor and it is colourful.

That's a cracker of a film alright. Someone (Snowy?) recommended it a while back. Genuinely creepy in places which is rare for modern horror films.

Good to hear the positives on that one, scrolled through the selection the other day and noticed it but was unsure. Will give it a watch.

This. My wife made me watch it once. My reaction was something akin to what happened to the Nazis who opened the Ark of the Covenant.

Trash.
