I made it about 20 minutes into the first episode before turning it off and removing it from my watch list.

Had an old favourite pop into memory after many long years, and luckily, I didn't need to dig out all my DVD boxset as found it on YT as a playlist:

Guardian seemed to like the Rings of Power a whole lot:

Solar Opposites
Basically Rick & Morty but with aliens who crash landed on Earth. Exact same animation style, tone and humor as R&M and Justin Roiland voices the main character. It's just not as good or funny. In fairness I've only watched a few episodes and it might get better.

I enjoyed it but it's very much a watch-if-there's-nothing-better-to-do kinda show.

Very much just enjoyed the first two episodes of Rings of Power. Not perfect by any means but a very nice take on the world so far none the less.

Some very pretty cinematography.

Same here, I thought they were fantastic. It’s respectful to the source material while making sensible adaptive choices, it feels appropriately epic yet still on a personal scale and the production quality is night and day over Wheel of time. Lots of potential going forward. No doubt the people who condemned the series literal years before any details about it emerged will find reasons to justify their ire, though.

Surprised to see Solar Opposites getting such a hum-drum response, I think it's bloody great!

The epic saga of The Wall alone is worth the entry fee, IMO.

I made the mistake of looking at some Reddit boards on why certain parts of the fandom were reacting so negatively towards it. The thinly veiled sexism and racism is pretty yikes.

In typical Graun fashion though they only gave it 4* - they did the same with The Sandman.

Speaking of The Sandman I reckon it is one of the finest TV series ever made. Just brilliant, everyone acts out of their skins and it just drips with fabulous content.

Watched the first episode and it was fine. Elves being stoic 24/7 must be a real pain in the nuts if you have to deal with them.

Anyone watching House Of The Dragon? I wasn't going to bother but the missus was curious. Thats a weird show. Its fairly generic then they give you a solid 5 minutes of pointless gore filled bloodshed to try and make you forget that it was fairly generic. Then episode 2 starts by casually mentioning major stuff happened between the episodes that we may have wanted to see but they couldnt be arsed showing us. Then it ends in a ridiculous manner. Matt Smith looks very silly.

I quite liked it but only because it was better than the last three or four seasons of Game of Thrones, which isn't saying much. I'm not expecting great TV from it at all, but as a little look into a world which I like much of the lore of it is a nice distraction for an hour.

They've done well considering it is based off of one of the most tediously boring fiction books I've ever read.

I think it suffers from revolving almost exclusively around nobility talking to nobility, because most of the dialogue feels formal to the point of being stilted. The show isn't terrible, but at times it feels like GoT with the zest extracted from it.

Not seen it (yet), but sounds like it's quite one-note? At least GoT mixed things up with the north, Wall, wildlings and Dani off in the east. I can imagine a show based entirely off what was happening in King's Landing would be quite tedious.
