Finished Mindhunter season 2 last night.
Considering how much of a Peaky Blinders fan I am, I found myself drawn to watching Mindhunter first, it's substantially more compelling than the latest season of Peaky's.
I blitzed through both seasons of Mindhunter when the second one came out and it is very compelling viewing. Even if the "science" behind the primary conceit is about as robust as astrology.

Watched the first episode of Dark Crystal last night and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, given that I wasn't enamoured by the film. It does some great world-building in a short amount of time, and the production quality is exceptional. The visual style and general feel of the world reminds me of Morrowind - slightly alien, definitely weird, but still natural in the sense that nothing feels out of place.

:D

Glad you're liking it, we're watching just one per night so as not to rush through them too quick, really enjoying it.

We gave Carnival Row a watch last night, from the first episode it isn't too bad at all, we shall see how it develops...

So Ive got this idea for something thats a bit like a shit version of ripper street. We might not have good writers but we have some pretty good set designers.

Sounds dull. Cant you spice it up a bit?

I thought victorian london was pretty interesting and...

People love Lucifer, cant you do something like that?

What, you want we should make all the minorities and underclasses fairies and demons?

YES! Thats what we pay you the big bucks for!

But I was jok.....

GENIUS! It makes that boring ass story you were telling interesting and quirky and down with the kids!

But I...

I expect it finished within the week!

Just watched the first episode of Carnival Row.

Imagine Ripper Street raped The Chronicles of Narnia, who had a hybrid baby. That baby is Carnival Row.

Just passed the half way point on the Dark Crystal Netflix series and I am absolutely in love with this show.

The world, the magic, the puppets combined with the CGI bits, the vibe. It is everything I ever could have hoped for from this setting being revisited. Pure magic.

So my initial response to the first 10 minutes was a bit off then it would seem :-k Maybe I'll give it another go soon.

Like I said to WB up the thread, the first episode, and particularly the start of the first episode, throws a lot of stuff at you, introducing all the characters, clans, world background in a rather breathless sprint, and even as someone who loved the 1982 film growing up it felt like a bit much.

But if you can get past all that, by the second episode the pacing has calmed down and it really draws you in. And as the series goes on, there's some dark shit happening as well. Around the point Mantis is at now, I started to mentally adjust the age I thought my daughter would be able to watch it from 'maybe in a couple of years, when she's 10' to 'maybe when she's my age'

It is. Can't comment on the film as haven't seen it.

Premise is stupid, and it all feels a bit Hostel tbh. Only watching it as some of the chaps I work with were getting excited about a second season and we tend to like the same things. May be deviating here though, it is just nasty.
