I can't remember if it's already been recommended on this thread (we've been seeing the ad for it on Netflix for a while so it's not that new), but one we've been glued to this past week or so is Russian Doll.

We've still got one episode to go, but it's been excellent. It's quite sweary, so if that's something that would put you off be aware, I guess, but it's at turns both interesting, funny, dark and, as the series goes on, progressively more poignant.

I'm not going to spoil anything except to set up the basic premise - a woman attending her birthday party dies later that night and wakes up to find herself at the same party. So a bit like Groundhog Day, then, but a quite different beast. Recommended.

I enjoyed that too, glad it's been picked up for a second season.

A week or two behind, but I too have started The Boys, and rather enjoyed the first episode. I'd completely forgotten Karl Urban was in it, so that was a nice surprise. There's definitely some space surrounding the Marvel-style superhero genre for more realistic stuff, I just hope they aren't going grim for the sake of it.

I'm on Season 5 of Poldark, Season 2 of Timeless and Season 3 of She-Ra: Princesses of Power

Such is the song of the nether world
The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels

We just finished Good Omens and really enjoyed it! Great whimsical fun.

Also The Act which annoyed the shit out of me. The story of Gypsy Rose is one of the most insane, heartbreaking, unbelievable and interesting in recent history and yet probably around 50% of this is pure fiction. It’s ridiculous. There’s no need to have sub par writers and inject their rubbish out of character scenes. The girl playing Gypsy is excellent but you’d be better off watching Mommy Dead and Dearest instead.

Finished Russian Doll, really enjoyed it. Very funny and still managing to be dark in places. I originally hated everyone in it so found the first few episodes a struggle but quickly got over that. Highly recommend.

Not sure a second season is necessary but more good TV is a plus.

I'm assuming a second season will revolve around different characters, as their stories seem to be nicely wrapped up.

Also, yay, season 3 GLOW on Netflix! :o

Also also, watch GLOW! :x

Just finished S1 of The Boys which was delightfully dark and in places extremely funny. I very rarely laugh aloud when watching TV or films, and had two proper belly laughs in this one.

I am curious whether the recurring fly is of any significance in the coming season, and also thought that (final episode small spoiler)
Spoiler
Introducing the guy who played Gus Fring as presumably the follow-on boss to Mrs Bitty sets up a villain and a half for next season
Very good indeed. Was Carl Urban supposed to be English though? And why did it take me 6 episodes to realise Simon Pegg was Hughie's dad?

Yeah, supposed to be a cockney, but failed terribly......

When the series was first touted, Pegg was in line to play Hughie, but was too old by the time it got the green light.

I read the art for Hughie in the graphic novel was based on Pegg, so the casting was a bit of an Easter egg for the fans.

It absolutely is. I'm re-reading the books at the moment - i think i definitely prefer the TV version - Ennis really doesn't hold back on graphic violence and ottness.

Simon Pegg actually wrote the introduction to the first trade paperback...

Ooh, what fly? Sounds interesting.
