Set in the 1950's in a remote Appalachian town with a witch problem. Script is written by the Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and will be directed by Brian Taylor (Crank). No idea whose playing Hellboy or anyone else in it yet.
Brian Taylor has made some woeful shit (Gamer, Ghost Rider 2.....) and some classics like the first Crank. Not expecting much but it'll probably be unique anyway.

Tom has been in some of my favourite movies - Point Break, Heat, BhD, Strange Days to Saving Private Ryan and The Relic. The family is due to make a decision by tomorrow.

Re: General Film News
I'm kinda fascinated to see how they approach the Joker / Harley relationship given that I'm aware it's supposed to be seriously unhealthy. I haven't seen either of the Suicide Squad films so I'm not sure how it's been portrayed up until this point (Birds of Prey was fairly decent, but that was Harley getting over said relationship). Phoenix's Joker was magnificent, but he has so much screen presence that I imagine casting Quinn was difficult, and Gaga has only had a couple of major film roles where she wasn't playing herself.

Three new Star Wars films in different periods of the timeline. I'm guessing Rey's return will be in the New Jedi Order period, as they're calling it, which I hope means it will focus on other characters with Rey there in a supporting role. They declared the Skywalker saga done, after all.
I'm cautiously optimistic as Dave Filoni is involved, and if anyone understands how to do new Star Wars material well, it's him.

Re: General Film News
While I agree that Filoni being involved is a massive plus, honestly I'll believe it when I see it. The amount of Star Wars stuff that's been announced, I've gotten excited about, and that's then just been cancelled is pretty ridiculous.Wrathbone wrote: βFri Apr 07, 2023 1:51 pmhttps://www.empireonline.com/movies/new ... eturn-rey/

Re: General Film News
Daisy Ridley was terrible in those movies. They'd be better off cancelling their plans and releasing stuff in future that just ignores the fact that the Skywalker trilogy exists.

Re: General Film News
Are they quite mad? If only Disney could properly read the room, they would know after going down the "The name is Reyyyy lad....ayup Reyyyy Skywalker like" that was her arc done and done, nobody wants her back - not anything remotely attached toward her character. She cannot act, I wasn't at all surprised when she auditioned for countless roles after the trilogy ended and didn't land a single one.
All they will do is make people turn away for good, Dave Filoni or no Dave Filoni. A return of the blandest protagonist possible in Rey even as a supportive role is not what people wanted or hoped for. They seriously need to wake up and move away from that disastrous trilogy.
Yes you could even say - far, far away.

Re: General Film News
While we're on the subject of Disney and Star Wars - did anyone see the abomination that was the latest episode of The Mandalorian with two celebrities shoehorned in to read their lines seemingly off a card?
I had high hopes with season one but it it's gone downhill since and picked up speed along the way. I'm just about ready to knock it on the head.
