The film has a $90 million budget with apparently an $80+ million marketing budget. Uffffff... #-o

I'd be asking for a refund on that one.

Looks atrocious. Maybe one day film makers will realise you dont have to keep making bigger more ridiculous set pieces and that good writing trumps all. Terminator 1 has more atmosphere in its little finger than all of the sequels combined.

The Terror: Season 2

This is an odd one. The previous season is based on a book called The Terror. A pair of ships trapped in the Artic ice, food is running out and a giant polar bear is picking off the crew. The new season is set in a Japanese internment camp during WW2. Looks very Grudge like.

Interesting idea but not sure about it. I never finished season one as it plodded along (loved the book) and this will probably be much the same.

So the Top Gun: Maverick trailer is out.

Because apparently nostalgia is better than new ideas.

It's going to be bad, isn't it? Not simply disappointing or pointless, but bad. A hateful shite on cinematic history.

I'll inevitably end up watching it anyway.

I honestly couldn't tell for at least half that trailer whether they were playing scenes from the original or have just reshot vast swathes of that film.

At least they didn't pointlessly kill Maverick off-screen (like Independence Day 2) or try a gritty reboot (like Robocop), I guess. So, yay?

Homoerotic volleyball scene: Check.
Glistening military hardware: Check.
Macho soundbites: Check.

I'd much rather they did a sequel to the overlooked Top-Gun-with-cars and master of mediocrity: Days of Thunder.

What about revisiting Cocktail, Pretty Woman, Working Girl, The Breakfast Club - come on Hollywood, you slackers, we want more of the same. Yes I know publishing houses print more than 10,000 new fiction stories a year, but you know what they say, why think of something new when old shit will do.

I've never seen a Jay and Silent Bob film with the exception of Dogma, so I'm obviously not getting the nostalgia factor here, but that looks unbelievably awful. Is stoner humour still a thing? Have the people who enjoyed it back in the 90s not grown out of it by now?
