I’ve never been a fan of Kubrick Shining (amazing scenes, poor movie) but I’ve also not seen it in 15 years so we’ll probably give that a rewatch soon, maybe I’ll reassess.
I actually quite enjoyed Genisys, but I seem to have been in the minority. I'm a fairly big fan of time travel stories, and the only real problem I had with it was the casting. Still, I don't think anything has captured the feel or excitement of the original two films, and I just don't think these sequels are in any way necessary.

Agree with all of that. They definitely peaked with the second film.

Also surprised this is going to cinemas, looks like a "straight to Netflix" job.
But Cloverfield will make me watch it.

It's getting very mixed reviews from critics who've seen it. Ranging from masterpiece to horseshit, looks interesting anyway.
