I think there are films that purposely hide the Big Bad for a long time (I'm thinking one of the Godzilla and King Kong remakes specifically, but I might be mis-remembering) but I think you're right in that those films made a point of hiding the monster because they wanted the big reveal and it was "artistic" (I'm not saying it was bad, just it was a conscious choice to hold back as long as possible) but Aliens just introduces the xenomorphs when it's appropriate to do so. They don't rush to use their big exciting McGuffin, and they don't hold it back to build up some tension; they just put it exactly where it should be for the story, without worrying about what audiences might want.

I'll post this here as it's a retro action film now I suppose.

Terminator Salvation, the film that revealed what a twat Christian Bale is. Been a while since I watched it and didn't hold it in much regard. But on rewatch it's not so bad, the effects have held up very well (CGI Arnie is a bit off but forgivable). Action sequences are really well shot. John Connor climbing into a helicopter, massive explosion makes it crash and he's attacked by a terminator, all one continuous shot. It's still a bit pish but not utter pish.

As suggested in another thread, this thread needs to be brought back for at least one last mission.

"Stop shaving, you don't have a beard"

Arnie impressions also never fail to raise a smile. Which reminds me, I really hope the Unmentionables get reunited with Truss soon

I could actually do a rewatch of Predator, might do so soon.

You could always hire a B-universe Truss replacement sidekick, played by Dolph Lundgren.

But... but... everything he touches, he destroys. I'm not sure that's a good idea given our track record

Fair point.

Maybe Carl Weathers? I hear he's pushing too many pencils these days, though in other circles he is the Master of Disaster.

Maybe. If nothing else, we could always make him our chef.

Long story short, Truss 'accidentally' got his soul removed by a planar transportation tower which is powered by souls. He was (is?) alive but basically a vegetable. Then the party gave a gnome the means to start an apocalypse, who then fled and stole the tower with Truss still in it and transported someplace else. So at the moment Truss could be completely fine for all we know! Or his soul may have been used as petrol.

I'd like to point out that before this happened, the party casually discussed going to the pirate town of Luskan and using criminals as fuel.

You really should read WB's session summaries, Animal, they're works of art

All I can say in our defence is, erm, we'd been drinking, I guess?

I'd like to state for the record that Slythe was and is chilled to the marrow by his colleague's suggestion :o

It's prompted a massive rethink of our traditional 'cower behind the huge barbarian' battle strategy that has served us so well so far.
