Henry Cavill has been cast as Geralt in the Witcher Netflix series. I should reserve judgement until it's released, but I can't say he'd be my first choice after his woeful performances as Superman.

You want someone a bit older and more world-weary for the role, don't you?

Reserve judgement also but this could be a good fit.

How this rates will completely depend on the story writing and there's no excuse for lack of material. The witcher books are great reading.

Also the supporting actors make both the books and the games what they are So it'll be very important to get the right fit for those.

Honestly, I'd set my hopes on Nikolaj Coster-Waldau because he seems perfect for the role.

It's not the look that bothers me about this casting, more his woodenness and voice.

God yeah. Jamie Lannister would have been perfect for it.

Oh dear god no...

Yeah, I had some hope that he could secretly pull it off once the shiny facade of Superman had been cleared, but from that admittedly very short clip it just doesn't look like he knows the character he's playing. He completely lacks the... world-weariness (?) of Geralt.

Jesus.

He looks like Julian Assange with a chin-ass.

I expected something more grizzled aye.

May be it's an "early" Geralt newly graduated to witcherdom.

That's balls. Normal eyes and a total lack of scarring - GTFO Cavill!

Maybe they'll cgi him up a bit in post production?

It's just early test footage so I don't think too much should be read into it, yet.

I'm so used to seeing Geralt with a beard that a clean-shaven look just looks wrong.
