I was tempted to watch BR'49 on Netflix last night, as my wife went out and I had the TV to myself.

But then I decided to do some painting instead. ¬_¬
what a choice !

Just so we're clear, I was painting miniatures -- model soldiers -- for fun, not some boring interior decorating (or what MM was suggesting).

Bladerunner is one of, if not my favourite film. I was lucky enough to see it in Leicester Square (I think) with my Dad when it was released. It's had far more influence on me than Star Wars ever did (and I loved that too).

It's the Marmite of films though, so many people are bored to tears by it but the style, pacing, soundtrack and themes have always gelled with me. I never get tired of watching it.

2049 is a worthy sequel and I really enjoyed it but it's lacking the freshness that the first had. It really was groundbreaking.

Tried to watch 2049 tonight on Netflix. I got about 20 minutes in, then got bored and had to stop! I was a bit surprised, as I remember really liking it at the cinema. Now I realise I have perhaps been a false fan this whole time!

Not every film sustains a second viewing (or TV show etc), sometimes it's all about the experience of coming to it fresh.

Cinema v TV at home

Cinema
- you paid £12
- your trapped
- you have that tub of popcorn to eat
- you feel guilty if you leave soon - people will see you and judge you as a philistine

TV at home
- Freedom !

I did genuinely love it at the cinema.

I guess I just wasn't in the mood for it on Friday.
