We beat the Champions, that makes us the best team in the country, that's how it works right? ¬_¬

Been away from the social media scene for a month or so doing exams etc. Managed to pass all my first stage accountancy exams and graduate from my Masters' yesterday though.

Re. Maja, he has attributes you'd want in a striker. He can score goals and is an excellent finisher. My issue with him is physically he doesn't offer much. He isn't strong, he isn't quick. Also, his work-rate isn't great.

The wider issue for us is that we have no obvious replacement. We signed Charlie Wyke from Bradford as he'd scored goals at the level and he's awful. We're trying to sign Will Grigg at the moment but it doesn't look too hopeful. We've been awful since Christmas really. Won't be bouncing back in our current form.
Nor did it look too hopeful until 20 mins from the end of the window.

Liverpool trying their best to throw the league away. Again.
Extraordinary.

United the first side to be given a penalty after the final whistle has been blown. Extraordinary.

The entire game was extraordinary really. United hit the woodwork 6 times last season (or 8, I forget). Today they hit it 5 times.

Think you'll have enough to beat the drop this season?

Yes, whether we have a manager who can marshal the team to do so is another matter.

Hasn't really worked has it.

I don't know who the right person would be because I thought if you persevered with Arteta it would benefit you in the long run. However, looks like the security might not be something you can take for granted. Humbling if nothing else.

Not that anybody cares and it's a poor trophy, but watching Sunderland win at Wembley today (albeit from the sofa) was geniunely something that I never thought I'd see.

Spent well over a grand in 2019 on two Wembley visits that didn't come to fruition. Aside from the money, I suffered two 5 hour, 2 day hangovers standing up on the train back to Edinburgh. #

Football beats you down again and again then gives you a sliver of hope. And I fucking love it.

It's depressing how little this has come to mean this season

If you had told me we would be 2 points off Liverpool in March I would have not believed you.

Two (and no offense) rank average sides.

Pretty much.

However, I find it quite hypocritical that organisations founded upon the principle of greed such as the PL and UEFA are acting outraged. They can pretend it's a moral standpoint, but really it's about money and being cut out of the loop of making it.

But if Liverpool end up not playing domestically but as part of a European super league that's a closed shop and without any danger of relegation etc, then I'll simply stop following the sport entirely.

As well as PSG, the leading German clubs (Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig) have come out and said they have no intention of ever being part of a breakaway league. Any European competition without teams of that stature is a joke, imo. Not to mention all the upwardly mobile clubs like Atalanta, even Leicester and West Ham who could well be in the CL next season.

In other news, Mourinho has just been sacked by Spurs.
