Playing a few at the moment..
Finished Doom: Eternal and really enjoyed it. That last boss was indeed a ballache and utterly unnecessary. I put the difficulty right down and was able to fudge through it. No interest in the multiplayer or the Horde levels.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Definitely the most Indiana Jones thing since The Last Crusade, great stuff. The voice work is excellent, he really sounds like Harrison Ford. The level design and detail is wonderful, looks amazing in places. My few complaints might be that the stealth can be a bit iffy and you get sent over and back across the map multiple times.
Balatro
It's fine, I'm not seeing why it's getting the greatest thing ever some reviewers are giving it. To each their own I suppose.

Balatro takes its time for the hooks to sink it. I really like it - it's a great phone game for those moments waiting for a train and the like.

Re: Currently Playing
I gave it a few hours but its just not doing anything for me, I just find it pretty boring. Its not bad its just nowhere near what I was expecting, especially after the religious fervour surrounding it. I also found Vampire Survivors to be incredibly mind-numbing too so maybe I'm too old/grumpy/tired for these zeitgeist games. Balatro is better than VS though, that game was just trash :p
Shadow Gambit
I'm getting through this a lot slower than I did their previous games and thats mostly because of the open world thing where theres only 8 levels that you play on again and again and again and again. Different missions move some elements around but a lot of it is quite static. You can also land at different spots on the island and approach things differently and use different characters but I just feel the bespoke levels of their other games were so much better. Its unfortunate because the core game is fantastic, their different character archetypes are the most fun theyve come up with, the DLC is great and the missions are interesting. There's just a lot of levels that I start and sigh because I need to take out the same bunch of guys yet again. Its a great game, I do love it... I just wish I loved it a little bit more.
System Shock Remake
Just can't get into it. Its clunky, its ugly and it feels like a B tier 360 game. Yeah I know the beloved original was clunky and ugly but its a remake, they should fix that ¬_¬

Yeah, agree on Shadow Gambit actually. I've still yet to finish it - I'm probably less than a third of the way through it honestly.Alan wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 12:17 pmI gave it a few hours but its just not doing anything for me, I just find it pretty boring. Can't remember if I already recommended it to you, but if not check out Sumerian Six, it's a really good continuation of Mimimi's style of game.

Yip, was very underwhelmed by this as well. As mentioned, it's clunky and butt ugly.

Born Punk
Pixel-art point and click adventure. It has a cyberpunk theme and the screenshots looked quite cool, though the trailer didn't enthuse me. The actual game, though, is very impressive! Wonderful atmosphere and visuals, with an incredible amount of detailed dialogue, ALL VOICE ACTED. Someone put a lot of effort into this!
