Their whole response to this has been pretty poor. The coverage hasn't been much better either, sites appear to have taken the stance that Valve = bad, Epic = good and anyone complaining about Epic's practices is just a Steam defender.

The games media in large is still salty of the time they got invited to Valve to talk about steam and they wouldn't implement what they wanted. Also why Jim Sterling has the biggest chip about steam for above as he was invited along side other big youtubers but wanted his and friends curator mark to count more on the steam store front page. They listened but didn't do anything as they are a hands off company.

It reminds me of your other comment in the Phoenix PointDjchunKfunK, about Steam could put in place about making a rule if you advertise on steam you have to be on steam on launch. The above folk would go and beat Steam = evil drum again.

In other news, Valve seem pretty annoyed by this, rightly, as the data can seemingly be used to promote Epic's stated purpose in displacing them, and are looking into the possibility of encrypting this data so it can't be spied on.

Personal privacy and our data is going to be one of the biggest issues heading into the next few decades, so whilst it might be a bit tiresome to hear about another company behaving poorly it's important to keep calling it out. Companies are relying on people to give up.

That's really surprising if true, because Obsidian have been bought by Microsoft and it would be a big title to have on the Windows store. Not sure why an Epic store exclusive would work for them.

Outer Worlds is being produced under the Private Division label of Take Two, so isn't part of the Microsoft buyout of Obsidian.
