Delayed into 2021, they cite COVID-19 as playing a part but you have to think the response to the graphics has to have played a part.

Covid's obviously going to have an effect on working, particularly if you're in an industry where it's safer to work remotely, but I get the feeling it's going to be used as an excuse over the next few months. Games development surely has to be an industry that would adapt quite well to remote working.

Either way, Infinite was already looking like a slightly lacklustre launch title for a next gen console. Not having it present at all isn't going to help much. There're already too few reasons to get a Series X at launch.

Its not Covid - they were not ready and that is probably due to lack of investment. This is bad for Microsoft. I sometimes do not understand why multi-billion companies penny pinch and under invest and expect revenue to just "magically" appear because of brand loyalty...well Apple maybe...but people are more savvy now.

So what exactly does the new Xbox have in terms of first party killer apps on launch lineup? I can't think of anything.

Both consoles have next to nothing first party wise and are relying heavily on third parties, the only thing Sony has right now is Miles Morales. I don't think it is really that much of a problem though, most launches are bereft of good titles, people are buying the systems for the promise of future titles mostly.

Game companies are to a degree setup better to adapt to remote working, unless you are based in Japan, but it still slows down pipelines as has been demonstrated by the multiple delays this year.

No actual gameplay footage though. It's been the best presentation so far but basically nothing was really shown, almost all prerendered footage.

Making the mulitplayer free to play is very smart and it looked pretty good as well.

Delayed so it doesn't clash with the new Call of Duty and Battlefield games? I find that a bit odd as I don't think there's a huge crossover in people playing the multiplayer in those games, each is its own unique thing.

No I think it is delayed because it's coming in really hot, this is literally the last date they can release the game before Christmas. Apparently the campaign has been completely rebooted over the last year moving from a Destiny open world style game to more of a traditional liner story game oh and co-op and Forge wont be in at launch.
