I only managed to get my votes in this morning after being reminded that Doom Eternal came out this year and was my obvious choice. I honestly couldn't remember what I was looking forward to in 2021 so didn't fill that one in, but only because BG3 completely slipped my mind.

I'm not sure if I will bother doing awards next year as there are so few people around and not a lot of games being played so most the categories just end up without a winner.

Thanks again for doing it DJ.
Maybe we'd be better served by a thread for it next year so we can just discuss our favourites and anticipated titles together if there are so few who contribute to the poll.

Best game not released this year probably reveals the number of voters.
I just remembered I haven’t played doom yet! Alyx was my number 1 but I think I may have been the only one to play it

Yeah, discussion threads would be good actually.

Thanks for organising it DJ!
While I'm happy
Hades got goty, i'm slightly puzzled as to who else voted it! as far as I recall, Raid and I were the only one who'd played it, and Raid isn't all won over yet!
Agree that given numbers a discussion thread might work better for us next year.
I was curious where Cyberpunk would end up given it's very late release in the year.

Yup Hades took up a lot of time this year. So easy to pick up and play.
And I'd forgotten about HL Alyx. Still a fantastic VR experience.

It wasn't even my top pick. I think it may have been my second. It *has* won me over now. Still, we're not the only site to elect it as such; it was Eurogamer's staff pick (it came 4th in the user chart), and I've lost count of the number of people who've said it was a contender.

Hades had two first picks, two second picks and one third I think.
I think maybe just one GOTY award next year might work well and just do away with the rest.

I suppose my biggest problem is that there aren't a great many games that I'll buy at launch, I'll usually wait until they come down in price. In retrospect this has actually been quite a good year for day one purchases for me; Doom Eternal, Cyberpunk, FF7 Remake, but it's counterbalanced by the fact that I barely bought anything else. Gamepass has taken over my games "collection", in that for the majority of titles I'm happy to wait to see if they appear on the service - in fact that was the reason I held off on Hades for several months.
I think the discussion thread is a good idea for next year; we can perhaps nominate titles and then put them to a vote.
