There are some very strong magic builds where the extent of your spellcasting is just loading yourself up with buffs before charging into melee. It doesn't really feel like playing a mage really but it gives you some build variety at least.

So, that's where the idea for Dharnon came from

I certainly wouldn't have said no to something along the lines of Haste...

Eurogamer have a preview of the DLC:

There's a text version if you don't want too many visual spoilers: https://www.eurogamer.net/shadow-of-the ... asterpiece

I *really* like the look of some of the new combat styles.

That martial arts style mage looks like a lot of fun.

Just got an hour in. Despite being level 160, I've already encountered a couple of mini-bosses that I'm hilariously outmatched for. I don't think this DLC is pulling any punches.

Just acquired the dlc and found as I haven't touched it for over a year I've forgotten even most of the most basic stuff. Couldn't even remember how to fast travel.
I might be level 230 but I think I'll jog my memory on one of the original starting areas before popping into the DLC.

I doubt Limgrave is going to re-teach a level 230 player all that much. I'm starting the DLC at 155, and didn't have any trouble whatsoever with the handful of mobs I found in my lunch hour.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world not playing Elden Ring or Erdtree

Having a great time so far (well... 80% joy, 20% blistering fury). Managed to take down a couple of bosses but good grief, some others I'm going to have to come back to later because they're absolutely unrelenting. The game feels dangerous again!

Yeah, many of the standard enemies are perfectly fine, although I'm finding more that are glass cannons. One slip up and I'm wasting flasks to recover.

I had to take a breather from it. A long breather. Eventually I'll come back to it with a different build once the wikis are up to date, but I got so bogged down with several bosses that I couldn't make any headway with that it stopped being fun.

Finally came back to the DLC and finished it, all bosses defeated - though sadly not before the final boss got nerfed. It’d be interesting to know how bad it was before, because it only took me three attempts (at scadutree blessing level 17), which surprised me. I had far more trouble with:

Scadutree Avatar

The lore implications throughout the DLC are juicy and I’m still getting my head round most of them (Youtube will have me covered, no doubt). And the landscapes are extraordinary, even more so than the base game. Overall a fitting expansion, if a little infuriating at times.
