Without exaggeration, every game in my library seems to be scheduled to update, what's that all about?

Most didn't download any data, either. Weird.

Turns out this is why.
Most of these updates are just shared redistributable updates and not real game updates. The end result should be that you need to download less content going forward. You should see only a few real downloads of any size and the remainder should be size 0 updates. This is not communicated well in the client and will be looked at.

Ahh hubris. Voted most popular category In business fuck ups

"What shall we do with facing competition who are buying their way into market share but get this they actually have less money than us and technology will make advertising based free gaming via streaming a real threat, and what about all those subscription services that are gaining popularity ?. What shall we do"

" I tell what we do. Nothing. I mean come on. We are Valve and everyone loves us even if we are deaf eared to criticism and take nothing onboard"

"Er.....why am I thinking of Blackberry right now ?"

Bethesda have announced Rage 2, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, and DOOM Eternal will all be released on Steam as well as the Bethesda launcher. Fallout 76 was good for something then.

Valve sued by casino operators for illegal gambling...

https://www.geekwire.com/2019/valve-hit ... state/amp/
The lawsuit from Quinault Nation, which owns and operates Quinault Beach Resort & Casino in Ocean Shores, Wash., alleges that Valve has facilitated the use of textured digital weapons, known as “skins,” in games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive as collateral in online betting through third-party sites. The lawsuit argues that through so-called “skins gambling” Valve has “subjected Washington citizens to scam, unsafe and unfair gambling.”

“Valve is well aware of the skins gambling that goes on, is well aware that skins have real world cash value, which has increased their popularity and value, and actively encourages and facilitates skins gambling,”

The company has consistently maintained it has no relationship with third-party gambling sites. In 2016, Valve said it sent cease-and-desist letters to more than 40 of these sites that use the company’s Steam gaming marketplace for gambling and shut down the Steam accounts used by those sites.
