It didn’t move you around did it? That’s what gives me the boak. I get queasy on the teacups so I thought VR would destroy me but unless it’s something that moves me around in an environment I’ve never felt the least bit I’ll from it. Maybe it was just badly setup.

When you get the motion sickness though, oh man it lasts for a good couple of hours before you’re 100% again.

Yup. Thankfully I walk to and from my work -- a two-mile journey -- so the fresh air had me right again even before I got home.

I know what you mean about being moved around. Sitting in a space ship or a car in VR is fine for me, but I feel weird in Minecraft when walking around, and I get a horrible feeling if I turn off flying mode when up in the sky. The fall to the ground and sudden stop? Brr…

The teleportation mechanic in Robo Recall really worked for me, since you're never physically moved around – you appear where you wanted to, facing the direction you chose. Top stuff.

Yep same - when I first played Skyrim VR I tried walking rather than porting and was almost immediately nauseous

Whereas now I can walk, run and jump off cliffs without feeling weird :)

260 for the controllers? Jebus.

The rest is moderately reasonable. Or expected at least.

I am at least appreciative for the fact that you don't *need* to buy the controllers. As entertaining as experiences with them are, 90% of my time in VR has been spent just using the headset (flight sims are my VR game of choice).

The headset is likely going to be substantially better than others on the market, and that has me interested, but I don't think I can justify that price tag. Initial impressions of the Rift S have been very good, with special mention going to the improvement in screen door effect, and the lower resolution will mean it'll operate on less beefy hardware.

And whadayaknow; the Rift S is up for pre-order too. £399 all in.

Is there any word if it is interchangeable with the HTC VIVE? IE can use the lightbases and controllers as I wouldn't mind down the line getting just the headset if so.

The Index site specifically mentions that you can use the Vive base stations with it. I haven't seen mention of the wands.

I like their modular approach, but I've already seen comments that the buy-in price is just £459, when in actual fact it's closer to £750 unless you already own a Vive.

Yup, you can use the vive wands and basestations. I'm looking at this closely. I';ll wait for some reviews as I also want a Pimax as that has a higher resolution but Valve mention some weird wizardry that may compensate for it.

I did read but they mentioned light bases 2.0 and VIVE pro so it threw me off. But I don't even know what version of the light bases I have with the VIVE here either #-o

You'll have V1.

I am tempted by the knuckles but nothing so far uses them and the wands are good enough for now... saves 260 squid.

Still waiting for some proper user feedback re the resolution.
Index is 1440x1600
Pimax 5K+ is 2560x1440
My Vive is 1080×1200 so either is an upgrade.
