I'd say you dodged a bullet, it's a very mediocre game.

https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/n ... free-games
Beginning today and ending on May 21, we will periodically require two-factor authentication prior to claiming free games on the Epic Games Store. We are making this change in an effort to encourage our players to take steps to strengthen their Epic account security.

If you do not have two-factor authentication enabled on your account, you will see the following message when attempting to claim a free game:

“Two Factor Authentication Required

Claiming this free game requires you to have Two-Factor Authentication setup on your account. Two-Factor Authentication provides an additional level of security to your Epic Games account and will help prevent unauthorized access.”

In order to enable two-factor authentication, please head over to your Epic Games Account settings.

I'm assuming it's simply because Epic are throwing stacks of money at them and are eager for more customers - Rockstar won't make a loss by doing this.

that would be the only reason - there must be a degree of cannibalism but the fact the platform is PC - Rockstar calculated the effect on potential console sales is still worth the price.

Epic must have thrown Rockstar a shit load of money

EDIT - Yep it looks like it will be coming to the store. Colour me surprised !

Nah it's got very little to do with the money Epic is giving them, it's already been on Game Pass. The simple reason is that Rockstar make all their money from the online side of the game so the more people's hands they can get it into the better for them. This is also probably why Epic introduced 2FA for claiming the free games, to stop all the cheaters who keep buying the game over and over on Steam from grabbing a load of free copies of the game.

If that were true it would just be free on all platforms. It seems strange they dont just do online on its own for free. Theyre still making a packet on sales since it was 4th on PSN last month and 8th on all systems combined. 7 years of being almost always in the top 10 sales every month..... and its pish. ;)

Eh? I don't see how 2FA would have any impact on that. You can sign up with infinite email addresses using either throw-away emails or the Gmail plus hack, and generating 2FA codes is a trivial and well-documented process.
