Ah I see. I misunderstood, I thought it was in addition to Steam. Fair do's. :)

I take back what I said earlier - I can see this being a success if and only if 2 things happen
- exclusives or rather due to the low commission you cannot get said game elsewhere
- price discounts on par with Steam

Consumers love choice but they love low prices even more and low price is king

Just another storefront I'll probably pass on it. If dev's want to put games on it all for it but for me that means I will most likely not bother touching your game till it's on steam or gog and by then it'll be cheap as chips :)

IF you want to compete with steam get your games on all the clients and letting the price determine where people will buy it. Exclusivity is just a poor attempt to get people to use your client.

Also Hades, the next game from Supergiant Games is going into early access on Epic's store. It has art similar to Transistor, plays a bit like Bastion and appears to have roguelike elements.
That looks superb. I absolutely adore Supergiant's style, though I just haven't managed to get into any of their games but Bastion (which I regard as one of my favourite games).

Didn't take long for the Epic game store to fall on it's face. This is the refund policy.

Putting the onus on the consumer to submit all that stuff is clearly a way of discouraging refunds. Additionally they should know how this works now, especially in relation to EU law. Hitting this obvious hurdle is not an encouraging sign.

They only need you to provide information, that's not a question. No-questions-asked withheld! :D

...and doth the criticism begins (even before the thing launches proper). They should have known this would have been tested. This is the internet. Nothing stays sacred for more than....a day ?

Apparently this was fixed on Saturday but news didn't get out before the negative headlines started hitting today.

Now you just need the invoice ID to get the refund.

Interesting take on the Epic store.

http://gamasutra.com/blogs/DavidGalindo ... Anyone.php

I do think people have been too quick to praise Epic purely because the idea of a competitor to Steam seems like a good idea. It does ignore the fact that we have had competitors already though, like GoG.

Seems to be going well. Although Steam also has an F so I guess they are on track.
