How dare Valve stipulate that a game must be on sale on their store in order to take advantage of their infrastructure.

Calling out Steam after the mess you made of your sale is...

Epic are throwing a shite load of money at developers to get exclusives. I supppose that is one way to build an audience if the client itself is too shit to compete on an even field

I think people are forgetting how shitty and hated Steam was when it was brand new.

How to and how not to announce your are going Epic Games Store exclusive, all in one post.
https://ooblets.com/2019/07/we-did-the-thing/
I'm fine with the explanation for why they made the decision, but the condescension contained in both the start and at the end of the post are terrible and have put me off actually wanting to support the developer.
They have doubled down on Discord by saying anyone who thinks the tone of the piece is wrong was never going to buy the game anyway.

I really don't buy the "Steam used to be crap too!" argument. Yes, it was, but then it improved, and the improved version is what we now have, what Epic is being measured against. I can't pretend to know how complicated it is to set up things like user ratings, shopping carts and, well, user information security, but there's clearly a shitload of money available and you'd think they'd be able to afford some time spent on programming them.

That argument also gets less relevant the longer the store is out without any improvements being made to it.
