Game of the Year 2019 Poll

Post by DjchunKfunK » Wed Jan 08, 2020 1:09 pm

So we are into 2020 now and I thought it would be good to do a little poll to pick our favourite game from the last year and as it is the end of the decade the best game released in the 2010s. So fill out the form below with your picks.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... g/viewform

I'll give people around a week to fill this in.

Was wondering if we'd be doing this but didn't want to hassle you, Dj :)

Well, that was slightly sobering, struggled to name 5 new games from this year I played, three on my list were ones I paid for ages ago in Early Access and went 1.0 this year, and one of those (Cube World) was shite

Also went for a slightly optimistic Cyberpunk 2077 for my 2020 most anticipated, no idea if we'll actually see it this year though.

I'm in a similar spot. I don't think I even bought five games last year, and I had to resort to a list to name the ones I did. It's even sillier when my game of the year happened to be a remake of one from 27 years ago.

For the first time I kept a list of what I was playing and had completed, think it came out at over 10 games completed that were released in 2019 and a bunch more that were released in other years.

In my case there were certainly a few more I'd have been interested in, but Epic.

For next year's one I wouldn't mind being able to include games new to Steam this year, as can easily see myself picking up Metro Exodus, Outer Worlds, Phoenix Point etc...

Unless I'm forgetting something, I only bought five games released last year. My average used to be about one a month.

Between my Humble subscription and Game Pass I've played more games this year than ever before I think.

That's the thing, I played loads last year, just not new releases. I'm not sure there was a single stand-out game that stoked my anticipation last year.

I'm very stoked for Cyberpunk this year, and cautiously hopeful for the FF7 remake.

EDIT - I've also just realised that I completely blanked on Witcher 3 when voting for my game of the decade. #-o I'll leave XCOM 2 as my vote to potentially mix things up a bit.

All done Dj, thanks matey.

Funnily enough I was just thinking about this at work this morning and like most folks so far, I found it a bit of a struggle.

Looking forward to the results though.

I think you've gotten the "game you're looking forward to this coming year" question wrong for the second year running. :P

I'm not sure it's a lock as there are a few things around that game that I have concerns about. You also have Vampire Bloodlines 2 and possibly Baldurs Gate 3 and Breath of the Wild 2 that could get ahead of it.

Humble Bundle definitely got me playing a lot of games this year.

The best find was my top game of 2019, Slay the Spire. Love that game. Another highly recommended and probably under-recognised game is early access Hades. Not sure if it should be on there as technically it's not released, i don't think?

Next year has to be Doom Eternal.
