Jim doing Jim things, got to get those hate watches.

I feel like it was journalists and media sites that were bigging up the gameplay element of AC more than Ubisoft were prior to the event, a lot of it seemed to stem from Shreier's tweet about there being gameplay of Valhalla being shown at the Microsoft event.

I do think there was a general lack of gameplay shown in some of the videos but I also think this event was mismanaged in terms of expectations and Microsoft have come out and said as much.

Mismanaged in the sense that they said they were showing off gameplay and proceeded to show about five seconds worth? Someone in their marketing team thought they could get away with lying about how much they had to show in order to generate more views for the event. The video on their Youtube channel is literally called "Inside Xbox Presents First Look Xbox Series X Gameplay".

Mismanaged in terms of people expected more than a bunch of smaller games and a Valhalla gameplay trailer that didn't really have any gameplay in it.

I wonder what the steps were on that Valhalla trailer, did Ubisoft promise Microsoft one thing and then deliver something else? Hard to believe that Microsoft wouldn't get to see the trailer beforehand and if they did, not sure who signed off on them spending the whole presentation building up to it.

In terms of gameplay elsewhere I think there was the usually amount for these things, both Bright Memory and Vampire had a fair chunk, it's just because of the big build-up everyone was giving AC that has sort of become the focus.

Given that the rest of the stream only contained similar trailers (ie: in-engine that showed the sort of stuff you'd be doing but not actual gameplay), I doubt Ubisoft supplied something that Microsoft weren't happy with. I think this was just misadvertised as a whole, and the silly thing was that it didn't need to be. Would anyone really have expected gameplay demos as the first footage from a new console outside of a big event? I would have expected nothing more than a quick showcase, and that's exactly what we were given. I do think it was odd to press ahead with third-party only stuff though, they should have waited until first party stuff was ready too because you don't really sell a console on multi-platform games.

I feel like these things have been done loads in the past and people haven't batted an eyelid, it's the way the AC footage was hyped up that has lead to people being more upset than usual.

No Man's Sky

Available in June for PC and console, be interesting to see how it finally turned out. I'm guessing it'll be played for a few days out of curiousity by most people then forgotten about.

I was always keen to pick it up when it hit a fiver. Then those pesky devs had to be all upstanding and decide that they'd support the hell out of it by adding oodles of new stuff and fixing this and changing that and completely ruined it for me.

If I still had Game Pass that would be great, but I sadly don't and it's never going to hit a fiver now. Those bastards!

There is a surprising good sale on at the moment. I mean the games are cheap compared to what a normal console game costs. Control, Modern Warfare 2 remaster, Elite and some others at or under 20 quid.
