As MM will no doubt be stunned to discover, despite owning Edith Finch for about a year I've only played 45 minutes of (at least I've remembered this time that I do already own it ). I really liked what I played though and keep meaning to go back and finish it off.

Interesting post about the Epic Store.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/the-ep ... pic.93249/

Not sure I'm on-board with the streamers/influencers cut what with the way a lot of people don't make it clear they are being paid to play a game. Could lead to more people saying they like a game in order to get money for it. Don't think it is the right answer to discoverability either as it is basically putting the onus on developers, and also the cost.

The stuff about Fornite players not being Steam users and trying to convert them to buying additional games is interesting and appears to be the focus of Epic's efforts. Probably a bit at odds with what developers are looking forward and reminds me of the talk around Minecraft and how all these people playing Minecraft would be new 'gamers' when in reality the majority either just kept playing Minecraft or stopped playing games, very few migrated over to being 'gamers'.

Thimbleweed Park is a decent point and click, but goes a bit nuts in the final act.

Axiom Verge dev does a ctrl-F to get rid of all mentions of Steam for the Epic launch, accidentally deletes sound file that causes the game to crash

Just like Thimbleweed, Slime Rancher is well worth a go for a freebie if you're already using the Epic store. It's a bit cutesy and simple (I bought it mainly to play with the kids) but there are worse ways to while away a few hours.
