Not sure how they plan to spin the more expensive online service considering how bad it currently is.

They have also said that there is one unannounced game coming after April that is from a known IP and will take advantage of online features, could be the StarFox racing game that has long been rumoured.

I hope not, just because I have no money to spare at all at the moment as I'm throwing pretty much every penny I have at a kitchen renovation.

Come on Nintendo, don't annoy me; delay! Delay! ¬_¬

Well that's a bit of a surprise. Not only did Nintendo just announce a Super Mario Maker 2 for the Switch, but there's an adorable looking remake of 1993's Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening from the original Gameboy in the works.

Some really neat stuff on the Direct last night including an intriguing looking game from Platinum, new BoxBoy and a Tetris Battle Royale.

Tetris Battle Royale.
I did laugh to myself when that appeared, knowing that someone on the internet has at one point typed "Every game has a battle royale mode these days. What's next, a battle royale mode for Tetris?!"

And yeah, it was an excellent direct overall, not least because I *finally* got one of those brilliant surprise immediate releases for a game I was looking forward to (FF9). Link's Awakening was completely out of the blue but really quite welcome; it was a game that was almost as good as the SNES game that overshadowed it, and definitely worthy of a remake.

I'm very much looking forward to FF7's release on Switch next month (especially since it's the week before I'm on holiday), but FF9 I struggle with. I want to like it, I just can't seem to click with it despite a couple of attempts. Against all common sense I'm considering getting it on Switch as it seems like the ideal platform for it.

9 is my favourite in the franchise. Tempted to get it on Switch too as it is the perfect screen size for it. I played through on PSP years ago but as cool as it was the screen was slightly too small.

9 is the only Playstation One-era game that I haven't played before (7 and 8 I played on the PC when the original ports were published back in the day, Tactics I bought for the Vita), and my former partner really sang its praises, so I've been itching to give it a go. The Switch is, as with most games, the ideal platform for it, though I will say I'm a little disappointed in the game's performance. I know it's a largely emulated game rather than the PC port it's based on being its own animal, but I was shocked at how long it takes to load into each battle. It's also pretty expensive; you can usually get it for around £5-10 on every other platform, but on Switch it's £17.

I see big Reggie is packing it in this April.

And the man born to lead Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser is stepping up.

I read somewhere that he used to head up a big part of EA, hopefully this doesn't mean we'll be seeing Nintendo change their business ethics to fall in line with western publishers.

Unlikely as Nintendo is still run from Japan. NOA is mostly marketing and distribution stuff like that, same with NOE.
