New generation coming to Switch later this year, looks like the new region is based loosely on the UK.

Shame that they don't seem to be doing anything to the core gameplay, back to random battles after Lets Go and they haven't even bothered to animate any attacks for the Pokemon, they still just gesture. So I think I'll pass as playing Lets Go made me realise that I perhaps don't like Pokemon games anymore.

That's probably the most disappointing part for me. For goodness sakes, it's 2019, surely they can animate each Pokemon by now. I absolutely did not expect anything hugely fancy in what is probably the most static game series ever made, but there's just no excuse for that sort of laziness anymore. What's the betting each monster still makes the same Gameboy-era scratchy, horrible synth noises rather than using actual voice samples?

There is *so* much scope for improvement in the main Pokemon series. This is the first edition produced for Nintendo's current home console. It's astounding that Gamefreak aren't jumping on this opportunity to change things up.

Edit: lol

Ok, this 'Switch Tax' thing is getting to be a little crazy. The Switch versions of Resident Evils HD, 0 and 4 are £30 each. These are all, don't forget, just HD versions of games from three console generations ago. XBox and Playstation versions cost just over half that at £15.99.They can't even claim it's because of the increased costs of launching games on cartridges rather than discs, because they're only available digitally.

It's certainly put me off buying a fair few indie games that I would have liked to play on Switch instead of Steam.

I find indy games are mostly priced the same as on Steam. They just wont hit sales as quickly because they are newer releases.

Another Nindies showcase happened earlier. Highlights include Cuphead getting a Switch release, and a Zelda/Crypt of the Necrodancer crossover.

WSJ reporting that Nintendo will be launching two new versions of the Switch this year. One will be the long rumoured portable orientated version that aims to replace the 3DS and will be reduced in price. Among the features being mooted to be cut from that version is HD rumble. On the other end they report Nintendo will be making a more premium version of the console aimed at more core gamers. This version apparently looks quite different to what you would expect and it's not clear if it will have a boost in power or not.

Announcement at E3 followed by release in time for autumn according to sources.

It feels unwise to split the user base so early in the console's life, so I'm not sure how much of a power boost the console could be given without preventing the current hardware from running software designed to make use of it. And I'm curious as to how it looks different; are they intending on releasing a non-portable version?

Incidentally, HD rumble is the Switch's most gimmicky feature, and I don't think its loss would be felt (har har har).

Best Buy accidentally put up listings for Persona 5, Metroid Prime Trilogy and Zelda Link to the Past. First two are not a surprise and have long been rumoured. The last one is a bit of a shock though and it turned out later that this was an error and was meant to be a listing for Wind Walker HD.

I know Nintendo are intent on releasing most of the Wii U back catalogue on switch, but I do wish they'd hurry up and release a HD port of Skyward Sword, as it's one that completely passed me by. I don't think is actually be that surprised by a new version of Link to the Past either, given the remake of Link's Awakening that we know is on its way.

Metroid Prime Trilogy though; yes please. I never played much of the Wii game, and the first two are classics. Having HD copies of them would be splendid.

I don't think you are missing much by not having played Skyward Sword, I didn't get on with it and I'm a fairly big Zelda fan. I also think it would take some work to put it on the Switch, you would need to take out all the motion control stuff, something I'm not even sure is possible considering how integral it is to the game. I have seen it up-rezzed on Dolphin though and it looks beautiful.

3D Land deserves a switch port. It’s way better than Odyssey. I am looking forward to a hopefully motion free Prime 3.

There's a fairly substantial indie game sale on the Switch e-shop at the moment. Celeste is down to £12, which by my current experience with it is an absolute steal.

I picked up Mana Spark for £1.79, seems a decent little game.
