The Travel Thread

Post by Rossell » Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:17 pm

Had one on Pee Dubz. Anyone got anywhere special they're off to this year? Got a Las Vegas/San Francisco double whammy in October but I'm going to try a few days solo in Berlin end of June. Anyone ever been to ze German capital?

Berlin is an awesome place to go, was there last September. People are friendly, it's not massively expensive and everyone speaks English.

I love Berlin. I try to go once or twice a year and must have been 8-10 times now.

Try to go on one of the Berlin Bunker tours if you can - they're really fascinating.

Never been to Germany, but would like to.

Off to Marrakech with Mrs Snowy in September, looking forward to that.

Misread this as "The time-travel thread".

On a happier note, I too have been to and loved Berlin. I was in the running to move there for work last year, but it came to nought in the end.

Has anyone ever been to 2014? The best year of the 10s before it all went to shit lol.

Happy to see the love for Berlin it's making the solo traveller here feel happier. Has anyone got a preferred hotel they'd recommend?

Depends on your price range mate. I stayed in the Titanic Hotel which was pretty plush I must say. Since there's a subway station every few hundred meters and a train every 4 minutes getting around is pretty easy.

If your going in summer be warned about the fucking wasps, I'm not joking when I say the cunts are everywhere. Eating outside is a chore with the little bastards.

Stay at the Adlon for the history, and then just give a few handjobs by the Hauptbahnhof to pay for food.

It'll be worth it, I'm sure.

But srsly, my mates and I do most of our trips staying at hostels - but the ones that provide a per-group room, which are still very cheap. This exists in Berlin, but I can't for the life of me remember which one I stayed at because it was a school trip years back... it was near the Ku'Damm though, so they do exist more centrally than expected.

Also, good call on 2014 - I was going to say 2015 as the year I finally got a full-time jerb after uni, but that was in the same month my best mate's kid died, so... yeah.

I usually go to Chattanooga, Tennessee once a year to stay with the in-laws for Christmas. Didn't go last year, but I suspect this year we will.

Other than that, I don't really go on holiday, but take various day-trips to historical places of interest around the UK.

The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels
