 :o

Whoa! Just watched the footage. I proposed to my wife at Notre Dame.
Between tedium and fright
Such is the song of the nether world
The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels

Cathedrals are one of the few parts of organised religion that I actually like, and it's a damned shame to see one of the finest examples largely destroyed.

Anyone who's been there (not I), I'd say your goodbyes while you can. I think it's over, Johnny.

Well, except for the fact that it's only the roof that was damaged, and it's going to be restored.

I find it amusing that last year they were asking for 150 million euros in donations to fix the place, and now it's burnt down, that's at least 200 million I think I see pledged from rich peeps.

Said with 18 hours of hindsight.

I thought all the stained glass (which was held in with lead) was fucked, too?

And that's the story of why I'm not allowed near pregnant women for the next few weeks.

Some of it, but not all, apparently.

Did you enjoy Hong Kong? I really wanna go there. My girlfriend and I are thinking of going this autumn, possibly combined with some time in Vietnam.

Also: Dubrovnik. Good? Taking the GF there for her birthday. Hoping I haven't made a poor choice.

Hong Kong is amazing if a bit expensive - we were there for 5 nights but could have used so more time. The architecture of the place just blew me away.

In Malaysia we went to Kuala Lumpur which was nice but then onwards to Kuching and that was fantastic - that's the one I really want to go back to.
