Aaand, In Other News...
Re: Aaand, In Other News...
First thing I said to the missus was 'it's Windsor Castle all over again'.
Huge shame. Fortunately I've been there so will always have that. Hopefully it's restorable but even if that's possible I'd imagine it will take a decade or more.

Also those protestors in London. So they've used spraypaint on the shell hq which is a pollutant, camped out in tents that will end up on landfill because they'll likely abandon them. If you believe twitter, they've had picnics and left litter everywhere, and I bet you they all took the train down.

All those cars and trucks sitting in traffic with engines running. I understand what they're protesting but the execution is fucking stupid.
About the cathedral. If you think of all the similar building around Europe that got leveled during WW2 that got restored pretty quickly. It's also safe to assume that the Catholic church will contribute nowt to the restoration.

Hold up, what am I missing wrt the train? Surely that's the sensible option instead of everyone taking their own vehicle?

Depends what you mean by "quickly". There was a piece I read earlier about York Minster's fire in 1986*, and how despite being on a smaller scale, showed that restoration can be achieved.Animalmother wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 5:10 pmAll those cars and trucks sitting in traffic with engines running. *Now, I've been to York Minster and not once did they mention anything about a fire, so this was news to me. I instantly thought of Windsor '92 watching the footage and considering the clean-up, though.

I was born in York a year before the Minister Fire -- I remember my parents talking about it a bit when I was a lad. It was a pretty big deal at the time.
Between tedium and fright

The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels

A convicted offender accidentally shot himself in the testicles while having drugs hidden in his anus, say police and prosecutors in Washington state.
Cameron Jeffrey Wilson, 27, was forced to seek treatment at a Wenatchee city hospital after the pistol in his front pocket discharged sending a bullet through his groin. He is accused of trying to hide the gun in the aftermath of the violent mishap.
A balloon full of marijuana was seen falling out of his anus while doctors operated on his gunshot wound.

Sounds unusually roomy.
