Poldark finally over (phew) and I finally finished the fourth and final season of Spartacus. The first two seasons were great. Three and four were a tedious struggle.

Handmaids Tale S3 finale
Pretty great all the way except for a few real annoying niggles.....
Spoiler
The girl finding her dad and they both recognise each other! Shes 10 and its now what 5-6 years later? He also just happens to be the first person she sees? ](*,) There are some painful TV coincidences in the show but that was beyond the pale.
Also Junes idiocy towards the end, literally no sensible reason for her to run and get hit!
Great show all in, really looking forward to S4! Some of the best TV in a good while.

The Dark Crystal series is now on Netflix. I managed 10 minutes of first episode before deciding it wasn't for me. Maybe making the entire thing using puppets isn't the best idea, it looks naff. I love practical effects and think they should be used as much as possible but this just didn't sit right. As I said I only watched 10 minutes and am being too dismissive so I'd not go by my opinion.

I was wondering this too, but mainly of the 1982 film. I liked it as a kid but I was also quite terrified by parts of it, and I was a hardened child of the 80s and not a millennial snowflake

If the series is anything like the film a modern 10 feels a bit young, I think things like the Skeksis are quite freaky to look at, but you'd maybe have to judge for yourself as you know your own kids and what they can handle.

The Skeksis are still pretty creepy looking but in a cool 80's effects way (that make sense?), the rest is weird looking asexual Gelflings giggling and talking in American accents. Nothing scary too scary there. Safe for kids?, probably OK but maybe watch a bit first. For all we know it could turn into a Cronenbergian body horror fest at the 20 minute mark.

I watched the movie when I was about 10 and it scared the crap out of me. I'll always remember it as one of those childhood movies that really left an impression on me though.

Watched the first couple of episodes of Carnival Row.

Storywise it's pretty standard stuff, nothing surprising so far. The universe it's set in looks interesting, and production values are good.

There's a few very cliche characters in there that are utterly annoying, but it's watchable. I'll reserve judgement for now until i've seen more.

Yeah, have read mixed reviews of that one. Might give it a go at some point, but expectations not huge.

Not watched it tbh.

But I have watched the first two episodes of Dark Crystal and am really enjoying it. Its production values are spectacular.

Still not sure on suitability for kids, at a guess I'd say should be fine for age 10/11 onwards.

I think we’ve given up on it. It’s pretty naff.

We’ve been watching The Boys and it’s not great. Can’t put my finger on why because the components are great but it just didn’t come together for me.

I really enjoyed The Boys, I thought it was hands-down the best show Amazon has produced yet.

I watched the film for the first time a few years ago and struggled with it, which is unusual because 80s fantasy is my jam and I generally love Jim Henson stuff. The whole thing weirded me out, though I have to give it due credit for intentional creepiness. I'll give the TV show a watch because it's something I want to enjoy and feel I should enjoy, but I'm not sure I'll be able to stick with it.

The Boys, on the other hand, was extraordinary.

From the description of Carnival Row that someone gave at work, it sounds a bit like The Wolf Among Us. Tempted to give it a go.
