The King

Yeah that was good alright. Very good acting over all and some beautiful music and cinematography. I also appreciate that they didn't try to shoehorn a romantic side plot into it, refreshing.

I suspect Joel Edgerton is due for greatness in the future.

I thought he was great, yeah, and I was impressed with the script. Still can't get over the fact he co-wrote it.

I've been listening to the soundtrack a lot over the last few days.

I thought it was interesting that the lead actor is actually bilingual and is fluent in French.

Makes me wonder if that was a prerequisite for the role, or just a happy coincidence!

There was a certain irony to the English king being played by someone half French and half American and the French Dauphin being played by a Brit. :D

Patterson was surprisingly good, an arrogant French fop who also has a hard edge.
Spoiler
The longbows don't get much of a look in during the battle. For something that was supposed to be so decisive they just lob a few arrows without much fanfare, which is probably historically accurate

Finally got around to watching Call Me By Your Name last night and I don't see what all the fuss was about. I found it pretty dull.

Maleficent 2: Elvira Mistress Of The Dark
Its just boring! An achievement when theres a dumbass battle featuring thousands of people fighting. Pulls so much shit out of its arse with no rhyme or reason. The only coherent throughline was that everytime Jolie had a wardobe change it got a bit more sexyslutty to the point that I was a bit bemused that Disney approved it. I quite liked the first movie, it was a decent remix of a well worn story and it had good visuals but this is just a bit of a waste.

The Aeronauts
Its exactly what you think it is. Its visually very nice but its just the usual thing of two folk trapped in an X put into perilous situation by Y, watch them struggle. Based on a true story but I'm quite sure its 95% fiction. Theres worse ways to pass your time. Redmayne and his usual one note thing is countered by Felicity Jones (#that big chested redhead I swore I did not know#) being fairly enjoyable though I didnt particularly like her character after the dog bit at the start. :x

Wounds
Guy finds a phone, it has bad stuff on it, now something is maybe coming to off him. Its not bad but then it just stops. No conclusion, it just stops. Dont waste your time.

A Vigilante
Olivia Wilde beats the crap out of bad husbands and then it turns to crap towards the end. Theres something there but it never lives up to the potential.

Eli
Young boy with Immunodeficiency has spent his life in a bubble, now his parents are taking him to a facility to treat him but what shenanigans are going on there?! An interesting idea thats not executed that well, especially in the last 20mins. I dont regret watching it which is a big step up from most random netflix viewings.

Fractured
Little girl falls and hits her head, parents take her to the hospital. The dad is split up from them and they wife and daughter are kidnapped and everyone in the hospital is in on it! :O 10mins in I did what folk cant stand and told my ladylove exactly what the twist was and I was right to a T. Its a very redundant film and very predictable.

First Man

Thoroughly excellent, if exhausting. I can't remember the last time I was that tense throughout the majority of a film. Full credit to Ryan Gosling - Neil Armstrong was a difficult person, and his portrayal addresses that without making him an unsympathetic character.

Alien 3 Gibson script audio drama
Not quite a movie but kind of...

I would like those hours of my life back please. What a massive pile of shit. Why anyone thought this was worth recording much less the people who actually said this was better than alien 3, well that’s beyond me!

It doesn’t pay any heed to how time works or even how basic physics of volume work! The alien survived by..... laying an egg inside Bishops chest. Bishop didn’t notice he had an egg which is physically larger than his chest inside him. Oh and let’s forget the queen tore off her egg sack before the finale of Aliens. It just gets worse from there.

Don’t waste your life like I did. Also don’t waste 3 hours on this.

Is that new? Bit of an odd one to rework.

I'm probably one of few people who actually like Alien 3...

It was a script that was tossed before settling on what A3 became. Audible commissioned this dramatisation earlier this year. It makes Ressirection seem less bad.

I do like 3, prefer the original release to the overly long cut. Its easily the worst of the trilogy but that’s by no means bad. They get points for immediately killing off Newt ;)
