I think my question has been answered :)

Dave I know you enjoy Japanese storytelling so it makes sense that you have enjoyed these titles, but I have never managed it whether Manga, Anime or the likes of the MGS series. Saves me spending money on the FF series
For what it's worth, FF7 and 8 are the only JRPGs I've ever got along with, and I love them both more than most western RPGs. I suspect you had to be there at the time, though, and I think being a dorky teenager who was willing to look past the frequently weird translations and use a bit of imagination probably helped. My jaded adult cynicism is definitely rose-tinted with them to some extent. That being said, having played through 7 and 8 again on the Switch last year, there's a lot that still stands up really well, and they're charming enough to make you forgive their many glaring flaws.

Control is now on PSnow. Heartily recommend you cash in your months free trial and play it! Don’t put all your points in melee -_-

Recently bought a cheap copy of Control on the PS4 too. Ex-rental (they still do that?!), and in pretty much new condition.
The game is pretty nice so far, although my PS4 Slim is really straining under the game's demands!

Unless they are changing the position of the sticks, it's already messed up. :)

Going to be interesting to see the reaction to this briefing. Haven't seen the kind of excitement you would expect after the Microsoft info drop despite it being a pretty stunning machine. If rumours that the PS5 wont be as powerful are true it will be interesting to see the reaction.

The PS4 pad is the second best console controller I've ever used after the Switch Pro one, I hope they don't change its form factor too much.

Wasn’t a fan of switch pro at all, gamepad is the best Nintendo controller since the cube ;)

DJ I think it’s hard to get excited when we don’t know price. Or any games. I’ll always be a bit more excited for PS just because MS first party has done next to nothing I’ve cared much for this gen.

Sony firstparty is entirely uninteresting to me, and in the past I haven't much cared for Microsoft's either but the studios they have bought recently make me more interested now. It's all about being able to buy a game once and play it anywhere, Game Pass and backwards compatibility that interests me most at the moment and on that score Microsoft is miles ahead. Sony saying that the top 100 PS4 titles should work on PS5 come launch is so weak.

The whole Sony PS5 stuff was a bit weak to be honest, the audio stuff sounds very like the Emotion Engine and the variable clock speed stuff is a bit confusing, I've never heard a console manufacturer try to argue that slower speeds are good before. Additionally it sounds like it will be additional work for developers whilst Microsoft has basically made a PC in a box so should be pretty straight forward.

Honestly I doubt I will be getting either at launch as I plan to upgrade my PC CPU this year but Microsoft are currently offering a much more interesting package.

A lifelong Sony fan and I have to agree that Ms have got the upper hand for the moment. I think Sony are trying too hard to be different that they're forgetting what they're supposed to be doing.

I'm waiting on the PS5 Pro.
