The Covid-19 Thread
Re: The Covid-19 thread
As a key worker, apparently, I'm still expected to be in work tomorrow.
I'm not going to lie, I am shit scared of catching and then transmitting this thing. I handle huge amounts of cash over the course of a day, and if I catch the virus, I could be transmitting it to large numbers of people before I'm even aware. It is not practical to disinfect cash, we do not have the facilities nor the supplies to do so en masse. While I am not especially worried about my own health - I am fairly young and fairly healthy, and I've largely come to terms with the fact that I'm probably going to get it, it's elderly people I am likely to be serving through my job, as they are the ones who have thus far refused to adopt less personable methods of accessing their money.
I do not want to be responsible for the death of one of my customers, and I do not think I should be put in a position where this is possible. I am desperately hoping that I go in to work tomorrow to be told to go back home again.

Re: The Covid-19 thread
You and me both brother.
In other Covid news I would appear to have lost my sense of smell. I haven't seen that mentioned as a symptom/side-effect anywhere. Anyone know any better?
The more I think back to my illness last week the more I'm convinced it was indeed the dreaded Covid.
Re: The Covid-19 thread
I've definitely seen reports that a loss of smell is a symptom.

Really? Wow. I feel absolutely fine now btw it's just I can't smell anything. It's really weird and if I'm honest a little unsettling.
I tend to not google these things myself as anytime I have in the past it's always cancer.
I've always thought that would be a neat idea for a website www.itsalwayscancer.com where you have a search box ala google for you to enter your symptoms, but regardless of what you put the result is always cancer.

I've seen it discussed as a symptom but not confirmed as one.

Oh I'm serious, I'm pretty sure there are people who can only afford to eat that shite if they want a hot meal. I've seen young kids going into pizza shops buying their "dinner" for the day.Drarok wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 10:53 pmCan't tell if this is genuine, or…Animalmother wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 9:11 pmI hate to think of the people who depended on those fast food restaurants to feed themselves and families.

I present to you the compilation of the Daily Mail’s bullshit articles on things according to them that cause and prevent cancer (in many cases, both):Medicine Man wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 10:52 pmI've always thought that would be a neat idea for a website www.itsalwayscancer.com where you have a search box ala google for you to enter your symptoms, but regardless of what you put the result is always cancer.

Re: The Covid-19 thread
This lockdown is going to fuck me right up. I have a weird living situation where my actual owned house is basically somewhere to store all my stuff. I actually spend every evening and every other weekend at my girlfriend's. The other weekends is when I have my son stay with me.
So now I have the guilty daily trip to my girlfriend's - I'll probably switch to biking it as I'm not doing much exercise at the moment. But then travelling back to mine everyday to carry on working from home (it's where I've got my computer setup).
Won't be seeing my son for 3 weeks (plus whatever they extend the lockdown for)

sorry to hear that. The enforced staying at home will put many people in jeopardy. Can you imagine couples on the edge of divorce or kids living with abusive parents. Nightmare

Re: The Covid-19 thread
My girlfriend lives in London, I've been on pretty much voluntary lockdown for over a week already and rationing out my meals to make food last longer and I'm doing absolutely fine with it, but not knowing when I'll see her again for the foreseeable future is quite the bummer.

I'm not sure that a lot of people actually have a choice. Khan made a huge blunder in reducing the number of trains, he should have put more services on in order to spread out the passengers.
Re: The Covid-19 thread
I am still at work. I will be until either I catch the virus or there are so many people off that we can't open. Fucking brilliant.
I'll let you know what it's like when I inevitably catch it.
