Each new series becomes exponentially more expensive to make too, so it is always a cost/revenue calculation that tips the balance.

I think my biggest problem with this is the speed at which they've made the decision. Netflix isn't like traditional television, it's not like people tune in because something they want to watch is on right now, and if they don't they'll miss it. Viewers have to discover stuff, they have to be in the right mood for that stuff, and they have to not want to be finishing off their previous stuff first. I know they have untold numbers of analytics, but making this decision just three weeks after they first published the show feels like a ridiculous kneejerk reaction to someone without access to said analytics.
I wonder if negative reviews from fans of the anime have had an effect.

most probably

if people hate it from the start - they are thinking why commission more when we have 100 other new shows to green light

I got about halfway through the second episode and left it. I do intend to watch it all at some point but not just now. I wonder if a lot of people did the same and Netflix are just seeing it as people losing interest.

who knows. Shows are usually cancelled because they cost too much and not enough people are watching.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is being rebooted as a gritty drama. No, really.

Will Smith himself is attached to the project, so you have to assume it's not going to be an entirely cynical cash grab.

That and the episode where the chimp knocks someone out with a roundhouse kick are two of my favourites.

Didn't he jump into the body of Dr Ruth and roundhouse someone on top of a car?
