Re: Cyberpunk 2077
I'm sure I've seen that actor who gets put into the back of the van (the one with the ponytail) in something else...

I thought that too. Going to watch it again and pause it.
My TV sense is tingling with something like Grange hill or Tuckers Luck.

I think it may be this guy, we've been rewatching Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes over the past couple of months, and I'm convinced he was one of the bad guys in the former:

Good spot! Yes that's the man.

I've surprised myself a bit there!

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
You've touched on the one thing that bugged me about the video. I hope they won't take the "cholo sidekick" shtick any further than they already have, with that character Jackie (might as well name him Jamie, tbh) - I actually live in Northern California, the "setting" for the game, the Free State of North California, so the constant nicknames and barrio street slang was a little grating. It's a bit too much like real life, in other words.DjchunKfunK wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 1:56 pmI think it looks good, but I'm not blown away. The UI looks a bit of a mess and the language is trying too hard to be edgy. Obviously this could all change, but based off what I've seen I'm not blown away like most people seem to be. I do like the look though.
To put it another way: they've hit the nail on the head with the characterizations, language and all. It bugged me because it felt almost intimately connected to my present life. So, it's praise to the devs - they're getting it right, imho, and the gamers of the world will benefit. I'll just have to grit my teeth, when the time comes

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
I don't know how cliched CDPR's stories are, but Jackie looks like the type of sidekick they kill off a few missions in to kickstart the plot.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077
One thing I definitely have issue with and that's the language and voice acting. As Soli says it seems to be trying too hard to be edgy and all that.
When I think back to witcher series it had an immense amount of variety and depth in the voice acting, it really made the world believable. In this everyone seems to have particularly harsh American accents and I get a "Stock ability" level of feeling from the voice actors. I know it's set in America and all that so yes people will have American accents but still...It's just a little jarring considering the amazing effort that witcher series had in this area.

Sounds like the HUD is going to be fully customisable, so you can get rid of as many elements as you like (damage numbers et al), which is nice:

[Slightly off-topic: Should I buy one of the Witcher games? Which one? I don't know a damned thing about any of them ]

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 [PC, PS4, XBone]
Yes.
Witcher 1 was, imo, good at the time but hasn't aged well.
Witcher 2 was, imo, very good at the time but appears to be a bit marmite with people, particularly the combat.
Witcher 3 is the best game ever made (again imo).
Aside from story there's no burning reason now to play the first two games first, W3 has some returning characters but you can always google the main story beats if you found it a bit hard to follow.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 [PC, PS4, XBone]
In would say go for the 3rd one. It's about the most accessible of the 3. 2 is good but bears little linkage to the 3rd. You can Google some of the main characters that you meet and get some flavour if need be. I don't think it's really necessary though as the 3rd game pretty much stands on it's own.
Get the GoG deal on it that adds the excellent DLC also which are full games in their own right.
