Re: Currently Playing
Jedi Fallen Order
This is my second stab at this sort of Souls-like. I dropped the difficulty to the lowest to just get through it and experience the story. I'm still getting my fucking arse handed to me by the faster enemies, it's either my controller is knackered or I'm just shit but I just can't get the dodge or parries timing. I also have a habit of walking off the edge of cliffs to my death, it's not fun
I want to like it but this style of game just doesn't suit me. I'd rather just shoot the enemies than flail a laser sword about. I believe the new game is adding a pistol to your gear.

I generally struggle with games that need precise parry timing, but I found it possible to brute-force my way through Fallen Order so long as you hunt down the extra stim chests. It's the only game of that style that I've really enjoyed.
Re: Currently Playing
I bounced clean off, but that has been true of every Soulslike with me.

I'm generally the same with the genre, but something about J:FO really clicked with me. I did play it on easy mode though due to aforementioned issues with Soulslikes...
It made it more like something like Tomb Raider or Uncharted, which is a genre I like a lot!

Re: Currently Playing
It doesn't bring me any joy to say it repeatedly, but yes I disliked FO greatly and the more I have attempted to return to it to alter that perception of the game, the more that grew instead. The angry I ever bought it kind. Every action felt jank like and I found Cal so very dull - right up there with Horizon's Aloy. The game's performance for how it looked was pretty abysmal as was the games camera.
Even when it went on sale for three pounds on Steam, I completely ignored it. I do own it on the EA app already.
Sure you can ignore many of the issues because Star Wars, but for me it was a rather below average release that I was looking forward to excitedly for a very long time - given that it's from one part of studio Respawn one of my favourite devs.
Addition - Revised because it sounded a little too whiny and saying all of that I am willing to give the second a go when it comes on sale.

Oh yeah I forgot the camera, fighting in a small room is a frantic button mash as the camera is usually pointing at the ceiling.
I did love the opening scene where the camera pans down and zips through the scrapyard up to Cal listening to weird space music on his walkman thingy.
Turns out it's The Hu doing the song, pretty cool.

Re: Currently Playing
I know you removed the bit about how Cal moved putting you off, but I actually had the same problem with Geralt in The Witcher 3, and it's one of the reasons I never got into it. It's the only game where that's ever been a problem for me, and I never quite figured out why. I didn't have the same issue with J:FO.Lennyquantum wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 11:55 am

Badly optomised shite maybe?
Re: Currently Playing
The gameplay previewers all remarked at how much larger the planets felt this time around. I suppose the larger the environments the more textures are needed, but even then that feels extravagant.

Highlighting the move from Unreal 4 to 5. Has there actually been any full Unreal engine 5 games yet released? Outside of Forkshite overhaul that is.
