S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Carry on, I don't think it needs a new save. The file size is large because every file modified is redownloaded again as part of verification...from what I gather. I am pre-Duga, just at Rostok getting kit in order before I join them.
Easily Game of the Year for me. This is everything we hoped for all these years, I have had the most sublime discovery and firefights I've ever experienced in a game — veteran, no cross hair or threat indicators etc. is just so immersive.

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
The Xbox update is only 12GB which seems odd.
Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
First serious crash in this game since the patch. Out of memory.
I couldn't even open a browser window without an error.
Sigh, everything else seems fine though with the patch on.
I shall persevere.

Weirdly, I had my first one of those yesterday...managed to open TM and close GoG and the game...

OK I am blatantly posting a spoiler here, because I simply don't get how you could know how to do this without a guide. It was my first and only ragequit so far and even when I managed it, it was a close run thing.
For those spoiler avoidant, no need to read unless you are tearing your hair out on the mission Ad Astra Per Aspera:

Yeah that mission was a pile of steaming horseshit. I had to look up a video to get through it in the end. Pretty much all the comments on said video mirrored the frustration you just described. There's a few bits in the game that I was stumped on due to either not being able to locate an object/switch/doorway or because of a ridiculously OP enemy spawning and repeatedly killing me.
Also could they please put a few holes in walls and fences so you don't have to spend 15 fucking minutes trying to find a way into or out of an enclosed area.

I was just about to post 'parkour mod' but then remembered - yeah you are on console...

SpoilerFuck the swamps, seriously.
I did this whole section last night and I nearly rage quit a couple of times, that fucking chimera kept killing me and just like you I had an emission at the same time, I reloaded a save about five minutes before that and luckily the chimera didn't spawn. Awful section of the game! The amount of times I kept getting stuck in the swamps was really pissing me off
Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
From what I have read since, the Chimera spawn and the emission are a scripted part of the quest. That it didn't spawn for you is an extremely lucky break! And yes, the swamps are a nightmare to navigate even when you don't have a fucking huge monster leaping at you while the skies turn blood red! I am going to file that one next to 'that race in Mafia' as gaming moments I never want to revisit. Can't think of one wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 11:27 pmI did this whole section last night and I nearly rage quit a couple of times, that fucking chimera kept killing me and just like you I had an emission at the same time, I reloaded a save about five minutes before that and luckily the chimera didn't spawn. Yup, I've done that section twice now. I was so annoyed the first time I installed a cheat to get through. It was then I sussed it's scripted.
On my second playthrough I also didn't get the chimera which made it so much easier knowing I just had to navigate and then run a bit.

Run!
Seriously, just run from the Chimera...there is a teleport house that moves you on when you get to it and walk through to the other door. (there are actually 3 teleport houses), but yes, I have no love for The Swamps, and have zero intention of collecting the stashes etc. that are still there. When you leave, keep East...and an eye on the highest ground...

I do love how fun fights can just devolve into utter chaos in this. Both sides slinging hand grenades at each other and usually finishing with a brutal up close and personal blast from a shotgun.
I do wonder if some of developers have our their own combat experience into this.

Have you removed your a-life mod now, Ian?
I've given the game a break for now.
