Lovely cinematic that. Was half expecting them to announce it was a hero shooter or some such wank.

Lol read that this morning. Musk is so fucking odd, why is he trying to pass himself off as a 'l33t gam3r'? There's literally no need for it.

I feel he sees gamers as his people and wants to look cool for them. He seems as insecure as he is arrogant.

It's a running theme with him; he wants attention and popularity, but fundamentally does not understand what causes that. In gaming, people respect a player's ability, not the numeric level of their game character. I wouldn't be surprised if he has an utterly shallow understanding that "bigger numbers = better", and he hasn't played enough games to realise that "bigger numbers = more time spent".

Re: General Gaming News
Given the first two of the new series are some of my favourite games ever, I feel like I should be more excited about this, but there's just something underwhelming about it.

So far, I'm also a bit lukewarm for this, although this break down video has piqued my interest a bit more, particularly the customisation of how the game plays:
I also really enjoyed the last 2 games, with 2016 still being my overall favourite; I just love the overall style and vibe. Eternal is also great and I enjoyed the first DLC before I hit an enjoyment-wall with the second one and just never returned to it. Difficulty balancing was a bit wild for both DLCs.
Anyway, aye, my expectations are tempered, but we shall see.

After watching that I'm very excited. It looks fucking amazing! They seem to have ditched the rage inducing platforming from Eternal and returned to the open plan maps from the original games. Difficulty and game speed sliders is a welcome addition as well, I ain't getting any younger.
Re: General Gaming News
Ok, yes, that's much more enticing. There are bits I'm still a bit hesitant about; for example they do say that they're wanting you to stand and fight rather than zip around an arena, but I really liked how much movement you had access to in Eternal, but the gameplay they show off does make it still look fun and reactive. I'm not sure what exactly they're doing with the glory-kill system - they seem to suggest it's more manual, but there were always enough variations on the canned animations to not make them feel too repetitive. They gave you a split second of respite and a dopamine hit every time you did one - to me they were basically perfect already and I don't think they needed to do anything besides create more animations.
I never actually finished Eternal, I got to the bit where they started throwing in the Marauders in as irregular enemies, and I just didn't think they gelled with the rest of the game. I've been meaning to go back to it for months, but as with finishing 2016 just as Eternal released, I suspect I'll find time before Dark Ages.
