Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
One man is fighting for the survival of his country and its citizens, the other is treating it as a business deal to promote his desperate vain-glory, the other doesn't care because he will be president soon enough, when trump's use is expired in the eyes of his handlers...

I'd recommend listening to the Alistair Campbell / Rory Stewart podcast on the matter:
Their opinion is that this isn't just another instance of Trump being an arsehole, this could be one of the defining moments of this era, and I can see where they're coming from. This will ruin the US' standing in world affairs, and I don't think it's going to be surprising if I wake up tomorrow morning to see a story that the US is stopping all support for Ukraine. If Trump is willing to just throw Zelenskyy and a country of 40 million people to Putin, then that's any possibility of his supporting his NATO article 5 responsibilities called into question. If he thinks Ukraine is fair game for Putin, then he probably thinks the same of Poland. Do we need to start retreating from the 5 Eyes alliance (the intelligence sharing system that includes the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand)? Do we really want Trump's CIA knowing what we know?
Europe needs to get its arse in gear and increase support for the Ukranian war effort before Putin's got missile batteries in range of Krakow.

100% the post-ww2 consensus was just firmly blown to pieces. That was the biggest diplomatic catastrophe I think we will see in our lifetimes. The US doesn't even act like that with it's adversaries, let alone supposed allies. I still can't quite believe what I saw.
Trump and his far right Christian nationalist nutjob friends want to isolate America so that they can continue to dismantle the country and turn it into an oligarchy. Europe just needs to crack on and rearm itself so it can stand alone and let America rot.

I'm genuinely surprised it took that long
Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
What a fucking child.
A man who could tell more truth and eat fewer pies.
Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
It is utterly mindblowing. Zelenskyy is the leader of a country that has been invaded for the second time by Russia on the flimsiest of pretexts and has managed to continue to lead them for years, the man is a hero and deserves nothing but support from anyone in their right mind.
To see this all kick off - well to me the whole shit-show was planned by Trump and the sofa-fucker well in advance of the actual sit-down. What a pair of utterly odious cunts, what on earth is America thinking? Land of the brave... I don't fucking think so. Land of the spineless apologist.

They are going to lift sanctions on Russia in the very near future — they cancelled cyber operations against Russia on Friday, so 2026 elections are fucked. US is an ally of Russia now, their every action affirms it.

Russia played the long game and eventually won the Cold War.
Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
I don't really understand that story. The US can lift sanctions all they want, but it's a physical construction based in Germany; if the EU has sanctions against this individual (and I suggest that if the US lifted theirs without consulting the EU, they bloody well *should* have sanctions against this individual), then no financial institution would dare touch it. Any individual involved in a transaction designed to evade sanctions is criminally liable on a personal basis; as a former bank worker this was drummed into us repeatedly and often - if I had any knowing part in doing something like this, I would have faced jail time. Not the bank, me.
This bit though:
I said a few weeks ago that we need to extricate ourselves from the US economy, and was told that this was basically impossible. Well, this is exactly the sort of scenario I was envisioning when I made that comment, and I stand by it. Yes, it's going to be borderline impossible to do, but I really think that someone in Whitehall will have been asked to put a presentation together showing exactly what such a withdrawal could look like, because we're only a few weeks into Trump's presidency and we're already discussing the US evading European financial laws.
This bit though:
Well that's just the weird place we find ourselves in now, isn't it. HSBC faced a decade of a deferred prosecution agreement due to that money laundering fiasco in Mexico, where if we'd not improved our financial controls, we'd lose our banking license in the United States. Now the US is planning on laundering money for Russia, and I bloody bet that Trump will institute some sort of matching control to *force* non-US headquartered banks to comply with doing so, because that's just another example of the force that the US commands.“The US would say, ‘Well, now Russia will be dependable because trustworthy Americans are in the middle of it’,’” said a former senior US official, who was aware of some of the dealmaking efforts.

It’d be a hell of a lot easier and cheaper for us to hire the ten best assassins in the world.
EDIT - On the slim chance the CIA stumble on this, by “us” I mean the UK, not the forum. I don’t have that kind of money.

Just FYI guys but the server costs have gone up by £750,000 this year. So any donations are much appreciated.
