The whole thing was deeply weird and this makes it even weirder… but I still can’t see how the shooting being staged makes any sense. A man died, so the fired rounds were real (at least the ones that hit him, but a mix of live and blank rounds would mean two shooters). If it was staged, that means they entrusted a kid with an AR-15 to fire live rounds in extremely close vicinity to Trump, and that Trump would have been in on it to deploy the fake blood, and I simply can’t believe even he would be that reckless.

Maybe I’m missing something. Is there a more plausible explanation for it being staged?

I think the simple truth is that it was a massive security balls-up which Trump and his team exploited with alarming speed.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but "photographer ushered towards photo op" is neither unusual nor suspicious, that's what they're there for. People seeing that as suspicious when shots have just been fired don't understand how dedicated photo journalists can be. The flag I'm happy to imagine was planned as part of the speech. A man was killed in the same line of fire, there's a photo of the bullet in motion from a legitimate, well-respected photographer, and you don't risk shooting at someone with live ammunition.

I will agree that it was convenient timing and helped his campaign, but you're going to need more evidence than a professional doing their job, and somehow managing to capture an American flag at a US presidential campaign rally in the background to convince me. Hell, you could accidentally click the shutter while loading the memory card and get three American flags in shot.

He refused to leave without his shoes so people wouldn’t notice the lifts that make him look taller and at best a bit of glass from the teleprompter being hit cut his ear or more likely he cut it on the way down. Nobody in their right mind thinks that nick was him getting shot. It’s always the dumbest, most boring explanations. The photographer was just well managed and very lucky to get one of, if not the greatest shot of a president in history.

I recall seeing a firearms expert saying that if a round from an AR-15 had hit any part of his ear, he would no longer have most of that ear. So either it was glass or the bullet grazed the ear by the slightest of margins.

Yeah, there are lots of things a bullet at speed can do, a light graze isn't one of them. The heat and shockwave from a graze has effects that wouldn't heal in 3 days with a 78 year old man... Also, malignant narcissist that he is, he would have paraded and exploited a "real" injury more than any human that ever lived, but maxi pad for 3 days? Yeah, right.

The other thing that often gets overlooked is the length of time between shots and photo op is always compressed in the editing of anything reporting the event, there was actually a long period of time between them, so relative "safety" to organise the moment of opportunity...there are a lot of coincidences and unanswered questions to this event though, so I keep an open mind. Flynn and Raiklin were telegraphing "black swan events" and "assassination events" in the months before, so I don't put it past being a "co-ordinated" action in some way.

I think it was like everything else involved with the man. Utter incompetence from the shooter and Trump's security and just the blind luck. Could the bullet have shattered off something and he caught a sliver of it?

There was talk of the teleprompters being undamaged, but they are laminated and I seem to remember someone reporting that a corner of one of the layers might have caught something and shrapnelled.

Somehow this is both astonishing and yet not remotely surprising. From now on I’m going to assume that anyone who works against the release of the files is in them.
