Haven't got the video to hand but the new features for chapter 3 of beyond look great. Massive overhaul of exploration and mining along with a fuckton of quality of life stuff. Going to jump back in for release in a few weeks.

Probably way beyond what I will ever experience, but looks pretty nice!

Exploration is pretty easy Asp Explorer, explorer kit, an SRV for surface stuff if you like. Couldn't be easier.

Yeah but once you set E:D up to run on VR, I can't quite work out how to get it back onto the monitor alone. And SRVs plus VR = projectile vomiting from motion sickness!

You get none in space, but try it planetside and boak :-&

Ah I see. Might be worth a post on the game forum. If you frame it here for clarity I'll ask it for you if you don't want the bother of account setup etc

Should be as easy as running it from steam (if it's linked) and selecting non VR version (it comes up with 2 options)

If you're not linked from steam and you use the frontier launcher...no idea. I'd have to google it.

So does anyone have insight into how one would make early game money in this now? Is it still a bit tedious? I was thinking about getting it on PS4 for lazy easy couch zone out but I dont relish the early game......

It's pathetically easy to get into a decent ship early on mate. Do missions, kill stuff in the local system asteroid rings and claim bounties for them. You could try trading but you won't make much in a small ship. Later on though trading is where you'll make most money if you have the stomach for that boredom.

I wouldn't write off the early game stuff it's the part that I enjoyed the best for different reasons as to why I enjoy the later game.

I did a long session last night with a mate who was just starting out (6 hours solid on the Rift - mama did my noodle hurt by the end). He had an Eagle and a few thousand in the bank when we started, and when we finished he was in a well appointed Cobra Mk3 with about 4 million in reserve.

Great fun night, even if it came with a little discomfort :D

No mate currently happy tooling around working RES sites and collecting bounties. Every now and then I go exploring in my Asp for a change. That kinda does me at the moment.

The new exploration mechanics are great and quite a departure from what was before.
