Haha another one that I enjoy with the exception of the vocals. It has that, erm, American extreme metal vocal sound that I just don't gel with at all. I couldn't explain in words what it is I dislike with it, it just doesn't grab me. Shame as the track is a banger otherwise!

I know what you mean though, having a solo that sounds like Thor standing atop a mountain ripping out a truly epic shred is a great thing :)

Pretty sure they’re Scottish… 😁

I get exactly what you mean, I can’t define which vocals I like or not, but I have very strong feelings on hearing them!

Here's one you might enjoy, been really digging this lot since I happened across a review of their new album and gave them a spin. Doom metal out of the North of England - not my usual tipple but it is mighty good. Riff heaven!

I wouldn't seek it out, but I'd be pleased if they turned up as the support band or at a festival.

Bit of a back-hander, that!

It's good, but it's not really my jam.

Nor mine usually, but it really grabbed me.

Interested to see what he does to improve it given the original album was all accidentally summed to mono when it was mastered and he's since lost all of the source material for it.

I didn't make it to Bloodstock but I saw this exact setlist at a show earlier in the year and it absolutely blew me away. This mix is one of the best live recordings I've heard in a very long time, it sounds utterly massive.

What an absolutely next level band Meshuggah are.

I'm there somewhere at the front (to the right as we look at it). I keep looking for a random tall guy :)

They really are a staggeringly good live act.

I haven't watched the full show, but what I did see of the footage was great. This version of Future Breed Machine is phenomenal.

So as alluded to in the art thread the other day, my band's first single came out today. Links to Spotify, Apple and a couple of others are on our Linktree for those interested.

https://linktr.ee/firmamentuk

It's quite riff driven, twin lead guitar, melodic metal a bit in the style of Iron Maiden but with a few modern twists and some progressive/alternative elements. The single's one of the simpler ones.

That's pretty damned good mate, you must be happy with that.

For what it's worth*, I really enjoyed it too.

*Ian keeps trying to recommend various metal bands to me and I usually bounce straight off them.

Cheers, Ian.

Yeah we're very happy with our studio choice. There was a bit of back and forth to refine the final mix with small details here and there but even the very first mix he presented us with sounded great. It's getting some good traction on our social media pages so hopefully we'll get a few new fans out of it.
