Re: The Covid-19 thread
In my experience Tesco up here has nothing of use, unless you can survive on crisps, cakes and chocolate biscuits.
I get my shopping online and everything I use on a daily basis to feed my family isn't available. No peppers, no carrots, no potatoes, no meat, no eggs, no rice not even any frozen veg. Bit of a nightmare when you're supposed to be self isolating and now have to go out to look for food because Tesco can't keep the knuckle-draggers at bay for more than 2 minutes.

I've not heard of any real panic as such, but if you're going for canned or dried goods, medicines or toilet rolls, you're going to be disappointed. Fresh stuff seems to be largely unaffected.
I'd like to say it'll just take the stockists a few days to catch up, but I dare say it's only going to get worse.

Re: The Covid-19 thread
in a way I do not blame people in the slightest. If the advice is to stay indoors for 14 days solid and not even to venture out and get food because you could affect someone else, what do you expect. Ofcourse there will be a run on food
The world is literally shutting down - this is so surreal.
I am beginning to suffer from mild depression over this. I think we all are

Speak for yourself, I can't wait to shut myself away from the public for a bit. I've been in need of some extended laid back home working for some time now.

Re: The Covid-19 thread
The gf just told me Tesco was hammered from 6am this morning. I am not the least bit surprised. I intend to go to my Tesco at 10pm and see what is left.....
I reckon it will be like this until May. We are through the looking glass.
In the States the sale of guns is doing well. That will solve everything.

I've done online Asda deliveries for years now, and I can only remember a handful of times where I've not been able to get a delivery slot for the next day. Last night I went to book one for a few essentials and the earliest available slot was 3pm on Saturday. Which is fine, I can wait until then, except will anything I've ordered still be available on Saturday? I've a feeling it's going to be pure potluck as to what turns up.
Re: The Covid-19 thread
Same, but with Tesco's. They're fully booked up the entire week, so I booked a slot for next week and the week after. Apparently Ocado has had to introduce virtual queuing to cope with demand. Morrisons was heaving this morning.Wrathbone wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 8:54 amI've done online Asda deliveries for years now, and I can only remember a handful of times where I've not been able to get a delivery slot for the next day. I'm glad I ordered that month's worth of Diet Chef food last week. Once I've got this Asda order delivered, I should be set for a good while.
Re: The Covid-19 thread
Just seen in the local paper that there have been two deaths in my town now, at the hospital where some days ago a patient with symptoms was wheeled into a ward containing critically ill patients. I've not seen the two occurrences linked, but wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

Re: The Covid-19 thread
I've got more than enough to last me a few weeks and I suspect that supermarkets will have their supply chains sorted out by then. The mass hysteria and panic buying has to die down eventually.
Failing that I intend to live off three months worth of Huel.

Re: The Covid-19 thread
I would love to be unfortunately my job can't be done from home and to drop to the paltry SSP can get stuffed as long as I'm healthy. I can see a whole lot of people even knowing they have Corona going into work becuase even a few weeks at 96quid could devastate people and throw them into (more) debt.
On a plus note, a part of my company work with some essential companies (British Gas for example, some NHS) which will always generally need us so they can fix peoples boilers etc.. Even if the majority of our work shuts down I could see us still operating with a skeleton crew for those jobs and since I'm one of the few there that knows pretty much all of our Scotland sites/jobs I'm fairly hopeful I'll be kept with pay. The fact most of those jobs are dead drops so no interacting with viral people is also a plus.
Now shut away for two weeks with bills paid for, thats a different story!

The Netflix CEO cannot believe his luck !
Expect a baby boom as well !
The High Street and small firms are beginning to collapse already with many firms reporting they will not survive a cease of trading for weeks on end
Euros postponed to 2021
