Love, Death & Robots on Netflix is pretty sweet. A mix of different animation styles telling weird and violent stories. One was almost certainly done by the people who did the art from Dishonored. Really worth a look.

Just watched After life (Ricky Gervais) last night. Well, this morning actually by the time I'd finished. I loved it :)
Stroppy widower trying to come to terms with life alone. Funnier than it sounds with some lovely touching moments.
I watched the first episode and it felt like rather typical Gervais fare and that wore on me a long time ago. I might give the next episode a shot but I'm not that convinced so far.
FWIW the review in The Guardian said they found the first episode hard to get through but the series really picked up after that and they found the ending in particular quite affecting.

I've still not started watching it yet, though.
Oh well if The Guardian said so.

I thought it was good. Didn't think it was as good as others have said but it was definitely good. Thought there were a few parts of it that were particularly good.
Spoiler
The addict killing himself, and Daphne/Roxy featuring after that. Was a bit of a sideshow really but her part in the end sequence and when he finds her outside the garage were particualrly poignant.

I was merely saying to Dj that even if he didn't like the first episode it was apparently well worth persevering with judging by the one review of it I'd read. What's the problem?

Fair enough, sorry Tommy. Week 1 of a strict new diet this week and I'm like a bear with a sore head right now.

That's alright mate, say no more about it.

I see that they haven't ruled out a second season. I thought it was wrapped up nicely in a short series, but I wouldn't be hugely surprised if Gervais did two but forgoes the usual Christmas Special. There's probably material for a second season if you wanted to force it but I don't think it stays true to the premise of the original season.

Afterlife is not the show to watch when you're feeling emotional. Thought it was very well done though.

Watched first couple of episodes of Afterlife, grim but very funny.

Let me urge people again to watch Love, Death & Robots, it's awesome. One story has Soviet soldiers fighting demons in Siberia, I want a full length film if that insanity! The animation is stunning.

David Fincher is involved in the production somewhere.

Watched the first one last night, guessing it was the Dishonoured-style animation one you mentioned as a few characters could have stepped straight out of that game. It was good, I found myself wishing I could watch a whole series based just on that, which I guess is a risk of this kind anthology series but the sign of a good one.

I'm going to watch them sparingly rather than binge I think, so I can reflect on each one for a bit.

Yeah, I watched them all in a couple of days, should have taken my time with them.

The song sung at the end I guessed was an anti-English song? Was that the joke? I took it as that anyway :)

Plus the time delay that disappeared at the end :)
