The gig thread
Re: The gig thread
I'm going to pick some up for the Nottingham gig when they go up tomorrow.
Did you see whether they were offering VIP packages, Ian?

Re: The gig thread
And bought, no VIP packages sadly. I am so excited for this new album, the new band having more of a live improvisational feel to it sounds great too.
Re: The gig thread
Hi Dave - no, no VIP packages on the presale either. Not to worry, he has confirmed he is going to stick around and meet everyone at the April gigs, that will do me

Dave, you are in for such a treat (although you are probably in the venue about now).
Guy in the front row filmed the whole thing (Weds evening show), I was 3 rows from the front and it was just fucking mesmerisingly good.

Yeah it was a pretty special gig. Reminded me a lot of the smaller more personal shows from years ago before he really started getting big on the scene. We managed to be in the aisle on the third row too.
Some really excellent vocal performances and overall hilarious night. Some of the stuff he comes out with during the q&a sessions is just gold.

Re: The gig thread
Been watching it - the same guy was in the same seat last night filming again, and it is up on Youtube.

Re: The gig thread
Went to the Bristol gig last night. Devin got interrupted by a guy on the top deck who said 'Sorry Dev, can I put you on pause for 2 minutes? I need a pee!'
Devin then got his guitar and did an improv song taking the mick out of the guys bladder.
The rest of the show was also awesome, doing a work in progress of Why? And also was not expecting the Les Mis cover. Money well spent his voice is crazy.

Heading in to see The Last Podcast on the Left live tour shortly. Can't wait
Should be interesting to see how they transition from a podcast to a live show. I guessing only maybe 2 other people on here know what this is but it should he a hoot!

I'm seeing Ice Nine Kills in London on the 27th September. Their latest album is fucking awesome IMO. Each track is inspired by a horror film, with a funny (to me) title. e.g. "Rocking the Boat" is based on Jaws, "The Jig Is Up" based on Saw, etc. Promises to be a fun night!
I've also got tickets to see Periphery again in London on 15th November. They're one of my favourite bands and can do almost no wrong.

Tonight: Opeth playing the London Palladium, how very posh!

Re: The gig thread
I'm not sure they're touring near me but I'm not enthused enough about their new album to go see the show for it.
I've got tickets for Ghost next month at the arena though, plus some for January for Insomnium who I don't really know but the girlfriend really likes.
Devin Townsend in December too.

Re: The gig thread
I wanted tickets for Nick Cave in May next year, but they're too pricy Put some heavy hints out though, so fingers crossed for a Christmas present...
Re: The gig thread
Haha you and I have an almost identical set of tickets - Ghost, Devin and Insomnium - guessing just the venues that will differ, am in London for all of them. Also have Abbath (because last time around watching Abbath reel around pissed out of his mind was better than most paid comedy shows I have seen) and the Incineration Fest (lots of filth, with Bloodbath headlining) in my current pile.Mantis wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 7:50 pmI'm not sure they're touring near me but I'm not enthused enough about their new album to go see the show for it.

Insomnium are pretty good, in an Opeth vein.
As is often the way, the new Opeth album is now getting more airtime after hearing songs played live. They just get better every time I see them, although Mikael needs to lose the cowboy hat

Haha, excellent taste as always Ian.
My girlfriend likes Insomnium mainly because the former Sonata Arctica guitarist plays for them now. I have an on off relationship with Sonata because power metal has never really been my thing, but Insomnium are great. They're very much a classic 90s style melodic death metal band.
Forgot to add that I've also got tickets for Rammstein in Coventry next year and begrudgingly Steven Wilson at the O2 Arena. So many gigs have suddenly come up at once to buy tickets for.

I am in the same camp mate. I have Amon Amarth and the Wonderstuff (throwback to my teens in the 80's) on my list for this year too.
Was really annoyed I missed Rammstein tickets, my wife dithered and before we knew it there was only the nosebleed seats available. There may not be a next time there either, can see them calling it a day after this one.
