Bollocks basically. The last Rambo film got a similar critic vs real audience score and it was a fucking hoot. Going to see it on Wednesday and can't wait.

Getting a film critic to review a Rambo film is like getting Delia Smith to review a post-pissup greasy kebab.

its just the contrast between "low brow" and "high brow" films

That's a wonderful analogy.

Wait, the last Rambo movie received trash reviews too?
I thought that one was pretty good.

John Rambo (2008) was awesome.
My fire is more than can be made with forests,
My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,
And stop mine ears, lest I grow mad with music.

Indeed it was sir. It even made people aware of a conflict that most never even heard of.

I still find it odd that the final boss in the Rambo series is... Mexicans.

It's supposed to be one continuous shot which should be interesting.

This would be great if Sam Mendes had had the idea early enough to release this in 2017, rather than it looking so blatantly like "oh people are into this centenary stuff, then, aye I should make a fillum about it."

yep he did kind of miss the zeigeist. A bit like having the Olympics in Greece in 2004
instead of 2000 or the fact that in 2001 the film of the same name did not get its love in until 2 decades later...er...

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Well it's certainly a James Bond film, I mean that trailer could have been made from random bits of the previous Daniel Craig films.
