Well Life is like a box of chocolates.
When do you think they shut schools - end of next week ?
As I said you can shut down everything for 1 week, 2 weeks, but this fucker is not simply going to magic itself away. A new reality is coming our way for 2020 until a vaccine is found or until the virus hits tipping point of immune people but that is something like 2/3 of the world population.
Also China. I said it before - they had better change their ways again because we only tolerate this much shit that is coming out from that country (and no I am racist, just stating facts)

I work at a university and am hearing through the grapevine that we are expecting to be closed from Monday.

It's a good thing the UK has never had a disease outbreak from poor agricultural practices, eh?Achtung Englander wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:56 amWell Life is like a box of chocolates.

One time where checking what you're posting would be advisable.

Almost like eating animals is something we should have evolved out of.

Yes we have had issues nationally but we addressed them with higher and higher health and safety standards. You cannot keep on having a situation where China keeps on churning out new virus because of fear of "shame face". Fuck that shit. I am calling it as I see it. These "sweat" markets have to end. Tradition or no tradition. One day a strain of virus will come out from China that will be plague like. Just wait to see the panic then.Strudel wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 8:26 amIt's a good thing the UK has never had a disease outbreak from poor agricultural practices, eh?Achtung Englander wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:56 amWell Life is like a box of chocolates.

Oh but you cannot criticize them. Tell that to the families of the Covid-19 victims. Don't forget the vast majority of victims are Chinese. I am just as angry for those people who died for nothing.

Re: The Covid-19 thread
Officials don't actually know with any level of certainty where or how it originated, do they? First it was a bat, then it was a snake, then it was a snake that ate a bat, and presumably next it'll be someone who ate the snake that ate the bat that ate a fly (I don't know why). Honestly, with my tinfoil hat on, it seems far more likely that (hopefully accidentally) it came out of the lab in Wuhan located 4 miles from the first confirmed victim, which also happens to be China's only biological pathogen research lab - their equivalent of Porton Down.
Re: The Covid-19 thread
All the academic papers I've read suggest that it's almost certainly from a bat originally, with pangolin being the next most likely culprit, but it's a 99.8% match for bat.

Not to turn this into a Chinese bashing thread but the cunts need to be taken to task over their "traditional medicine" bullshit. Apart from literally wiping out species so they can get a hard-on it's causing the spread of these diseases.
