It's been an awful week, but hopefully I'm through the worst. Hope everyone is either on the mend or feeling grand.

Spiralling in anxiety and facing the possibility of being out of a job next week in what may the most inhospitable job market in living memory. But I don't have coronavirus, and I've lost 3 pounds from dieting this week, so I guess it could be worse.

In their defence, it wasn't their choice to live 40 miles away from work.

I don't know what you do, so no idea if a VPN is really even necessary, but it could well be that the internet connection isn't able to handle that many people accessing the office at once, and would require a new connection putting in to fix, so not something they could do in a small time-frame. What they could do as you say is just have the non-essential work wait for a bit.

I'm very glad my bosses are being super nice as usual, but I can't see us surviving as a company – we need investment by June or July else we're going to start having trouble paying bills.

Well true I live where I live and that isn't on them.

And how things change in the wonderful world of project management. My current project is liable to be canned with everything going on, and I am now managing the Covid-19 response project making me a critical staff member and thus once again able to work from home. Plus it will protect me from any redundancies I should hope as well as probably being a very interesting project.

Sigh.... rules are pretty prescriptive here in Luxembourg now:

Any non-essential travel is forbidden under Wednesday's Grand-Ducal regulation.

As part of the state of emergency, the Prime Minister introduced a traffic ban that affects everyone.

The only valid reasons for leaving the home are included in the Grand-Ducal regulation of 18 March 2020.

Here they are:

procurement of food, pharmaceuticals and basic necessities,
acquisition of agricultural, viticultural, horticultural and forestry products,
travel to health facilities,
travel to the workplace for the exercise of professional activity,
assistance and care for the elderly, minors, the dependent, the disabled and the particularly vulnerable,
travel to social security organisations in case of emergency,
travel, in case of emergency, to financial and insurance institutions as well as to postal services,
travel to the commercial and artisanal entities listed here,
due to force majeure or a situation of necessity,
outdoor leisure activities on an individual basis or limited to people who live together, without any gathering and subject to respecting an interpersonal distance of two metres.

The Grand-Ducal regulation dated 18 March 2020 will allow selected economic and commercial activities to continue, while others must be closed.

The list of permitted businesses activities reads as follows:

commercial stores which mainly sell food products,
pharmacies,
opticians,
businesses that mainly sell animal feed,
telecommunications service businesses,
businesses that mainly sell hygiene products, washing and sanitary equipment,
fuel and petrol station sales services,
passenger transport activities,
distributors and businesses specialising in medical and sanitary equipment,
medical pedicure limited to medical, not cosmetic, care,
press distribution businesses,
financial and insurance institutions,
postal services,
dry cleaning and clothing cleaning services,
funeral services,
troubleshooting, repair, clearance and maintenance activities required for safety reasons.

From tomorrow i'm working from home - and trying to plan project implementations in current conditions is a slow affair, right now.
